I have a K&N, noticed a really nice sound when I put it on but now with my exhaust I don't notcie it as much. My only problem with it is that I ordered a silver one the box said blue and inside was a red one.

I Have and enjoy the AFE.
Highly recommend
The AFE has a built in heat shield to seperate the heated engine bay air from the fresh intake.

Im also thinking of getting the Alta unit. What is the best place for getting the best price on it? Better question. does Alta even make an entire Intake system for the None S folks or is K&N my only choice

I would go with the AFE CAI from Flowsource. I have had my CAI for several months now and I like it, also I have a Megan exhaust the two work nice,.

I just installed an afe yesterday. I liked the idea of the heat shield. It is about 32 deg now so I have no idea how effective it is. The shield fits snugly against the hood liner so it does create a seal. I will have to wait until it gets warmer to check to see how well isolated it is from the engin heat. I agree with the others who have installed it and like it. Combined with the Miltek exhaust, it sounds and feels nice.

Stock cooper air box

Hi,

Anybody want to sell or give away their stock intake box for a 2003 Cooper? I live in the SF Bay Area in Sunnyvale. I prefer someone close so I don't have to pay the shipping, thanks,

retroom

I just added the afe cai. I didn't get a second filter or a bunch of little extras others mentioned. In fact, I had to run to the auto parts store to complete the install because they only gave me one hose clamp when their instructions call for two. Inspite of that, I will say I loved the lower price, the low growl, and the extra zip I could feel immediately.

I,d say buy what you like as it's your money .I have a Pipercross PK222 similar to the one in the photo above for about 31/2 years and happy with it,nice growl and the car picks up better no question about that ,whats really great is it's foam and you can wash it dry it and spray some light oil on it and reinstall so it last along time. For that reason i would'nt buy a paper filter. However Koen de K your filter looks a bit bigger than mine in diamiter and is looking upward more as well,is it rubbing on your bonnet liner,i've read that thread somewhere and mine is fine.Changing the filter is a good thing as the stock air box is an aquarium wating to fill up and fry your engine,i know somewone who has done that, expensive!!!! Cheers guys
