IMHO, stay away from those cheap eBay intakes... crappy filters and crappy quality. I've seen several fall apart on e30 BMW's now.

1. $9.99 for the part and $23.99 for shipping? MMMMOK!

2. I like my car and would not put cheap crap in it. I will only use parts from trusted sources, or at least a suplier I could have recourse against if the part fails.

3. I don't have enough money to be throwing it away on cheap parts.

Call me adventursome or foolish, but I'm going to try one. Of course I'll replace the crap filter with a proper K&N, will wrap the aluminum intake pipe, use a heat shield and enlarge the cowl vent. I'll let everyone know what happens (and save my pennies for the Webb box...drool)

It's about learning too, you know. That stuff fascinates me

Forgot to mention. I assume that since the question is posted in this particular forum, that we are talking about a MC. In which case the EBay item becomes irrelevant since it is for an MCS.

You get what you pay for sometimes.
I for one to patronize sellers who charge excessive shipping fees. regardless of the deal. Just a quirk of mine.

I've seen some pretty nice ones from EBAY, and I've seen some crappy ones. Not all the chaep ones are bad, but you don't know what you're getting. This is what makes it a dangerous gamble. If you must get one, make sure you get a K&N filter for it.

But, truthfully, if it has a quality filter, then it will be fine, but you drive a mini and wont settle for "fine", do your MC a favor, and get an expensive one.

I got a CAI off eBay from an aftermarket company for $50, plus shipping. It has a heat shield and they sent an oiling kit, too. It's been on my Cooper for 2 yrs. now and I have never had a problem with it. It provides power and has a nice sound, as well.

However, before that one, I DID get screwed by an overpriced cheapie that looks very similar to the one offered in the first thread. They even promised to send a heat shield, at no extra cost. I never got the heat shield, nor did I receive any refund, either. I guess it just shows that, while there are good and decent sellers out there in eBay Land, there are also some real schmucks ya always gotta watch for.

I was really lucky to find the other CAI...and their Customer Service restored my faith in buying online.

Hey Bad S, Weapon R is a namebrand intake. It's not as popular or widely distributed as say INJEN or AEM, but it's decent. Just to let you know.

Weapon-R makes some good stuff. I've been planning my own custom intake and might use a Weapon-R filter for it.

Here's their site <click>.
