I have gotten quite a few questions regarding what's out there for the Cooper as far as intakes go. Here are the options I provide.

1) The Viper Pipercross induction kit. This kit makes the most power of the systems out there right now, 10 hp. It's a more comprehensive kit, draws more cold air, and looks great. The cost is $329, so that's the big drawback of this option.

2) The Pipercross intake. This is a low restriction foam element withan aluminium (UK spelling - cool eh?) intake. This piece includes a rampipe that feeds the intake. This system increases sound and makes an increase of 7 hp. This kit costs $227.

3) A new system that comes from the UK who supplies the FIA World Rally Championship cars - Green Filters. This relationship is still being developed, but will probably include several systems for the Cooper: a straight cone filter, an intake, and a drop in element. The intake is very nice because of the heat shield provided. Costs are still being determined, but look like around $250 for the intake. It should make in the neighborhood of 8-12 hp.

4) Pipercross filter replacement. This is an economical way to get 4 hp. There is no modification required to the stock airbox, you just remove the cheesy paper element, and "drop in" the new foam, low restriction, washable element. The cost for these is $50.

5) The Moss intake. This intake is for those of you who really like to look cool! It does make 4-6 horsepower, and is relatively inexpensive at $120 for polished aluminum and $135 for anodized aluminum.

If you have any questions about what works for you, give me a call. I'd be glad to discuss all of the options.
