Better oil filter?

Is there one for the R50?
Is there a point to even searching for one, as it seems the OEM one is good enough?

I'm not sure who carries Mini Oil Filters, but I like to think FRAM or Royal Purple make good Oil Filters along with K&N. Although I'm not sure how the OEM one compares to those.

I also feel like an oil filter will not have an obvious difference without some aftermarket mods. For a daily driver I'm not sure how important a "better" filter would be.

I'm just basing this off of what I have seen in other cars I've owned. I don't know how this information relates to the Minis.

We have the Mann Gen 1 Oil Filter in stock or the MINI Genuine Filters just encase you are still looking for one. Or a couple. When you install the oil filter housing cap on the housing , it might take a couple times to get it on straight so you don't cross thread. Also watch the O-ring, I put a little oil on the O-ring then install on the housing cap, so it does not catch dry on the sides and then works its way out and slicing it causing a leak. You don't know till you feel a like rubber sticking out near the housing lid, housing base seam.

I would not use any Fram filter on my lawnmower. Tests showed they did not filter near as good as others.

+1
FRAM once had a good product....but cost cutting to be the volume leader at the "bigbox" stores and lack of investment has left them at the "back of the pack" on almost EVERY oil filter test done in the past 10 years....the filters are just JUNK...lowest of the LOWwhen cut open or tested....
But folks still remember the name, the advertising, etc....
My suggestion...Buy OEM or MANN, some like others...but hard to go wrong imo WITH EITHER ONE.

Is the MANN better than OEM? Judging by the pics, it does look like a better quality product.
Do you ship to Canada?

Just so you know, the OEM filter is the Mahle OX 175. The MINI filters even have "OX175" printed on them. The Mahle filters are pretty widely available. They're high quality and low cost - the only filter I'll probably ever use from here on out...

I agree with what the others have said about Fram filters - I ran across something online a while back that compared a bunch of different oil filters. The Fram was one of the few that had completely failed by the time for an oil change. The OEM filters are always among the best.
