Cooper (non-S) Drop In Filter Options

Cooper (non-S) Drop In Filter Options
Thought I'd compile what I could find on Drop-In Filter options - there's a lot of threads on drop-in vs cai/short ram, but not a lot of chatter about which drop in to go with (for those of us limited by classing to replace just that).
OE Part #: 13717561235
Wanted to add this one:
I'll probably go with this after I'm done with my oil tests next year
Options from ECSTuning: http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/13717561235/
As far as the Amsoil options go it gave me two (for an 08 non-S) - not sure which is right if not both. From what I can tell, the Mann filters are actually OEM for Mini.

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...code=C37100-EA*
Same for K&N:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=33-2386*
* Believe to be the correct part.

Would you say the K&N is a significant improvement over the Mann or OEM? Also, it looks like the K&N you guys carry is the 33-2386 - aware of any differences between this and the 33-2936?

Thanks, I am glad I could help.
Mann / OEM is the paper filter. K&N is the light oil filter, higher flow. It comes down to what you really like and cleaning the filter.
Looks like the 33-2386 is for the "Justa" Cooper
33-2936 is for Cooper S and JCW. But not JCW add on Kit which is a tube filter.
Thanks

otherwise, more flow = more air = more power! and perhaps better mpg. I'm curious to see how it will turn out.
What foam filters are you speaking of? I'm only regarding drop-ins here, as that is all that is legal for HS. I have seen a few other threads about CAI and SRIs vs drop ins as well, and it is typically regarded that they will make more power.

They do make foam filters that drop into the factory intake, just like the K&N only made from foam not the paper style.
Here's one of the one's I'm talking about (Click Here)
I want to say that I saw another brand with a similar foam filter as well. I have also seen a dry and oiled AFe drop in filter on ECS.

stupid question, where does that snorkel go? before or after the filter? i looked it up on MM's site and still can't quite tell what it's supposed to do over the OEM.

The snorkel installs between the airbox and the stock cold air intake by the left headlight. I made my own out of an exhaust pipe elbow (see my gallery). I ran it for awhile with a K&N filter but didn't feel any performance increase. It was a little noisy so I returned everything to stock.

Sorry not checked NAM in awhile. I just had my 2nd Foam Filter installed, the 1st one was quite dirty coming out. Did this plus a few other things for her 6th Birthday and to get her ready for our Vacation, which we are on now, 2 10 hour driving Days. Really impressed with how she handles after lowering her!!

how's this one look? http://smile.amazon.com/31-10185-Mag...Amini%3Acooper
Not enough improvement for me since I live in a desert climate with lots of blowing dust days that really benefit from the oil trapping properly maintained K&N filters provide. Used them for 25 years and never a problem, even holds back significant water when you dive too deep in fording a stream. (not that I do that in the Mini!)

I Googled for some reviews, off road people seem to like them. They look like they have a lot more surface area than the OEM paper MANN filters and have the bonus of being washable. Cost about the same as K&N.
