I bought this from Mini'Mon awhile ago (defenders of speed) and i just installed it this morning.
Buttdyno says that mid torque suffered a little (no surprise if you look at the intake arm that goes inside the tube) and it's a little louder at WOT.

otherwise not much to it. I may have to trim the inner tube to allow more air to flow through.

inner tube on that arm runs almost up to the TB intake tube, i'll be trimming it at work tonight.

Until now, I'd never seen good pics of the Soundkit intake. Thanks for posting the pics!
I wonder if the MINI engineers extended the "arm" intake so deep into the box to improve the flow quality thru the airbox? That way air coming up from the front entrance of the box wouldn't collide with the air from the side entrance & cause a lot of turbulence at the box outlet. The side entrance air exits directly into the outlet hose.
You might be able to pick up some more flow by replacing the intake muffler (Helmholtz resonator) at the front of the box. I replaced mine with some 63mm ID silicon hose & it seemed to help.

 

i did have that in mind, I'm also planning to cut off about 1/2" of material off the end of the side tube to open up the inside of the box as well.
