Installing HID Headlights

I am looking to buy new HID headlights for my 2003 mini cooper. And I have the option to buy a dual in dual out harness. Also, I have the option to buy an error code eliminator. Does anyone know if either of these are neccessary, or needed? Or are they a waste of money?

Thank You

Are you using the OEM housings for Halogens or HIDs, they were both reflector housings in 2003. The newer look, '05/'06 had projectors. You can also buy projector housings on ebay from the aftermarket crowd.

All this assuming you are using HID compatible housings so that you don't blind oncoming drivers and annoy them with glare.

I'm kind of new to all of this. So for example for a 2008 if I buy HIDs, I should get a new housing?

I was going to buy an aftermarket housing that is HID approved. It has the halo rings, and is a projector housing as well. It comes with 35 watt ballasts and 6000k xenon HID bulbs. But I was going to switch to 55 watt ballasts and different 6000k bulbs that could handle the power. But I wasn't sure if I would get any error messages. And I heard of the problem that your lights don't turn on at all. The error code eliminator would solve the error problem, and the dual in dual out harness would guarantee that they would turn on. But I didn't know if I would be fine without any of that.
