Tips On DIY CAI

So I am looking into making my own open cone intake. I have read all the threads about modifying the intake silencer and the DDM and K&N systems. I just have something about not wanting to drop 240 on a CAI. So I am looking for tips or suggestions on how to make a DIY Cone intake. Can anyone out there shoot me some advice or help?

there is a thread out there where someone made their own CAI for the non-S. In fact, as I recall, he made several variations before settling on one. I will try to search for it as well.
