I don't pay to have a 14s car, neither to beat the little N/A Hondas. The N/A 1.6 Honda may be faster than me, but let's see what happens in the track or the twisty road. I like tuning my car, it is a challenge for me because R50 are not like R53 where everything is tried and tested, and afterall i like it. If you don't like the Mini world and Minis, simply get sth different.
First of all, if the N/a 1.6 Honda can beat your car you can just quit now. It doesn't matter how twisty the roads are, the new mustangs and now better handling civics than ever can keep up, I know from experience, I have hundreds of races under my belt. Yeah the base coop is a challenge, straight to nowhere.
I AM MINI, y'all just wait and see what I've got for you guys in the coming years.

So after a three month long argument with my Mini dealer I finally got them to replace my transmission for certain problems caused by the dealer, myself (apparently), and my driving style.
They said that little R50 transmission is so small and crappy that any extra power and aggressive driving will do it in. So now I have a new tranny, its amazing! But now I am afraid to do anymore HP mods for fear of ruining another tranny.
You guys have any trouble? If not there is a good chance you will. I don't know what to do. 6speed swaps are a big deal, and I don't want to trade my R50 in, I love her to much....
I might just have to stop going for power and start refining it with dampers and stuff. And taking out useless back seats.

I must've gotten a Midland on steroids...
Pushing 120hp at the wheels (not done yet), with over 163K miles on the odometer, and still running on the stock Midlands.
It all comes down to how you drive, I guess. So if you're very spirited, then I guess you'll have problems. In my case, I do mostly highway miles, and rarely pass the 5K RPM mark.
I am starting to feel 1st gear slip a bit, though...

I did the first tests with the RaceChrono software installed in my X1 Experia phone, via GPS, my 0-400 was 15.5 secs. with 139kmh trap speed, and the standing start kilometer was 28.8 secs. @ 171 kmh. That was with two attempts only, in VERY bad tarmac, and not pushing the gearbox at 100%
