R50 JustaCooper plus a Jan Tune equals...

when i get the money ill def give you a call, Jan.
btw ps.
you're awesome
Jan, what about adjusting the ECU to tell the TCM to rev the CVT differently? Is there a way to get the CVT to move from the presumed mpg mode that I would assume is standard to a more performance shift mode? Though it does sound like your tune increases the throttle response on the R50 CVT.
It seems I read some threads here on NAM where people were speaking of the MTH tunes that had some modification for the CVT.
I'm trying to convince the spouse to get your tune when you're here in Denver (maybe) later this year.

It looks that way! It seems like there just isn't a lot of info floating around about this, I imagine most of the guys interested in tuning their cars got R53/R56's! I suppose I will just have to contact known tuners directly.
Haha, good advice! By all accounts Jan is the guy to talk to. I may finish all my bolt-ons and then drop him a line when I'm finished and maybe get a remote tune if I am still looking for more gains.
That would be my recommendation. What did you decide on the header?
No decision yet! I'd have to get a header with a Cat I think, and the only one I've heard of yet is the OBX. However, I can't get any straight info on whether it helps or hinders performance. I believe I'll be getting a cat-back first since my stock exhaust is showing some rust around the muffler anyway.
From what I have heard and what I was told by a few shops, the justacooper does not benefit from the header being switched out unless the motor and the ECU have been tuned well beyond the realm of OEM. That is why I haven't done mine yet!
However, I did just get a set of gearbox mount bushings to install. I have heard good things about them as far as driving feel. Easy mod too!
The mod list underneath on your sig keeps growing! I would look at adding some springs next, improve on what you know will give your car an awesome upgrade that you will undoubtedly enjoy every time to jump in your car!

Interesting, another reason to hold off on the header I guess! Thinking about it, I probably shouldn't look into a tune until my extended warranty runs out anyway.
What do the gearbox mount bushings do for you?
The mod list is growing as the bank account shrinks!
I am giving serious thought to the TSW springs next, that and the cat back will probably be the next mods, just haven't decided which to do first. The springs are a few hundred cheaper so they are in the lead at the moment!

The gearbox mount bushings from what I understand help stabilize the transmission, eliminating some of the bucking feeling when you are driving the car and let on the clutch a bit too fast, go up hill, etc... Thought for $30 it might be a worthwhile investment!
You will love the TSW springs! As I install my Konis here in a few weeks, I will give you a full report on my final suspension build
