best mod was replacing the passenger side "oh crap" handle with a sun visor.
i'm holding off on my install of the 3rd brake light pulsar (which has been sitting on my desk for 3 months now) til my warranty is up. overcautious...i know.

I have one (I'm sure others do here too).
I got one from Helix. It installs from underneath and does not shorten your OE shifter... just the throw distance.
It took me a little while to get used to, but I like it.

I have tried the short throw shift kit on my 2004 justacooper and I have to say, I was unimpressed. I had the Craven Speed, which replaces the whole shifter assembly rather than the bushing from Helix. It basically lowers the shift distance, which is fine. However, it made the shifter feel super stiff. I had mine moved to about 20% reduction, which I felt made the assembly way too stiff to be fun. I sold the unit and reverted back to stock and have never regretted that move.

For inexpensive mods that I have never regretted, they are as follows:

ITG drop-in air filter: $65 (alta filter is cheaper and similar)
Alta SwayBar 19mm: $190 (opted for the smaller bar)
TSW springs: $200 (best springs ever)
OMP lower stress brace: $70 (cheap, effective, and made by OMP so reputable race company)
Mini Acessories Exhaust tip: $30 (dresses up car and looks aggressive)
Alta Shorty Antenna- $20 (gets rid of the R/C car effect)
Any form of tire upgrade- (I personally like the Hankook Ventus RS2)- $400

These mods hav added either a visaul and/or performance enhancements that take the mini a step up from stock. Hope this helps all of you with the new R56! Love the car but love the R50 more. (at least for now...)

That's what felt so weird to me about mine as well.

Hands down, favorite and most usable mod I did was a cup holder from MiniFini. Now I can easily reach my coffee in the mornings
2nd favorite- my Borla exhaust. Great sound, and a little extra pep for when the AC is running

True the mini-fini cup holder is excellent! I always take that for granted since I bought my car with this mod pre-installed

When I drive another car, the first thing I miss is the convenience package -- having to dig a key out of my pocket to unlock the car and start it.

Then I miss the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel to run the iPod.

Then there's things such as handling, cornering, and the "fun" (sport) button...

so I have a mcs.

Short Shifter (helix: cheapest, installed it myself, hardest part of the install was removing the exhaust, and then bending the shifter cable so that it is easier to change gears, but love this mod).

tint: gotta have it, looks sexy, and clean, isn't too pricey depending on where you go.

bLACKOUT: find different ways to do this (would recommend plastidip)

Things i want to do to my car:

Forge intake (will do this after my warranty expires, as it seems that I'm getting alot of problems with my car.

H&R springs, with sway bar.

new wheels.

jcw front bumper

reflash maybe? :P

but NO $$$ boo freaking hoo.

This is just the kind of list I was looking for. Thanks!

Couple questions:

What is the difference between a swaybar and a stress brace?
Any other performance mods for our justacoopers (speed, hp, etc)?
Any more word on a CAI?

I love my CAI. Best 150 i have spent. My car sounds amazing now and i defintly feel it off the start.

Shorty antenna does a lot too.

I am thinking about blacking out the belt line as well.

But all in all, i think for looks, the aero kit is the best thing to do. Thats my next project

Obviously you like them - but how do you find the ceramic pads? Do they need to warm up to be effective? Any downside to them? And I presume they're more resistant to fade (I've faded mine a couple of times lately)

I honestly could not tell the difference when I replaced the OEM pads with the ceramics. They feel much the same... and I've always thought the MINI pads are excellent. So, no change in performance, next to no dust-- !

Sounds good to me - I'll be buying a set. Thanks for the tip!

After having the car for awhile I'd say the boot box was most disappointing. Others agree.
