Sweet. That should be all I need. Thank you so much.

I ordered a JCW Grille Kit from a vendor on here - it said it was an 07 but it didn't say anything about being for an S or a non-S. I went to install it and it just doesn't fit properly at all. I'm assuming that I have an S version? How the heck could I even tell???

Well it must be an S version, because the @#$%ing thing scratched the paint on the bonnet. I'm sooooooooo pissed off right now.

Which vendor? I haven't installed my grill yet and don't want to take any chances.

It was in the marketplace. It wasn't the vendor's fault - although the listing didn't specify which one it was I didn't ask either (mostly because I thought there was only one version).

I bought mine from outmotoring and there is a way to specify which model car you have for future reference. Try a little compound to get rid of the scratch.

There definitely is a difference between the non-S and S grilles. You will know if you have received the correct grille because they have slightly different shapes to them and are not interchangeable. Be careful when ordering because there are many more parts out there for the S and most vendors would just assume its an S. I received the wrong grille to begin with and even specified that it was just a Cooper. Be patient, take it easy and slow when installing parts. If your not comfortable installing them have someone who knows what their doing install them. As for a chrome grill available in the S, I haven't seen them. The reason is because the chrome grille is more restrictive in terms of air flow through the grille and the S needs that air flow to help cool the turbocharger.

I purchased my grill from outmotoring and installed it today. About 20 minutes and it fits like a glove. It probably would have been half the time if I was more mechanically inclined. As I am not, redbaron's advice on taking your time makes a lot of sense. Hopefully I will take pics to post soon.

Black vs. Chrome Grill - MC vs. MCS

I have a MC on its way to me (ship should be in Charleston this coming Wednesday). I plan to replace the chrome grill with the black JCW grill. I talked with someone at Outmotoring about it. I was told that the grills on the MC and MCS are completely different - and not interchangeable. Just make sure you get the JCW grill for your model car - MC or MCS. And as has been stated already, there is no chrome grill for the MCS (doesn't let in enough air).

Thanks to those who've posted pics of an MC with the black grill. Looks terrific, and will be the first mod I do when my car arrives. Fortunately, Outmotoring is just a short 80 mile drive away from me.

Last weekend I switched out the MC chrome grill for the black JCW grill. Pics are in my gallery - October 2008 Mods album. I got the JCW grill from Outmotoring (actually visited them and picked it up in person). Super nice people and a great place to get your MINI stuff (end of advertisement).

Anyway, I think it took about 10 minutes to switch the grills. It is super easy just following the instructions at the beginning of this thread. And, if I want to go back to chrome, I expect it will be a 10 minute job to switch them back.

Note that my signature picture has not been updated with the "new look."

Well, another one who ordered a MC grill and black trims for Cooper in Outmotoring.com but when I tried to get them fit, it just didn't fit. The lower black trim seems to be larger than the space to fit and also the grill doesn't fit at all (only 2 of the 4 screws can be done because the other 2 don't coincide and also, the left side of the grill bumps into a part of the intercooler or radiator, I don't know). So, I asked them to change it for me because it's not my fault because order was just right and I know (almost 100 %) it's MCS parts and not MC parts.

I want to know what happened with anyone that have the same problem with Outmotoring.com

Thanks!

I talked to Aaron and found out that Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper D haven't same bumper and grill. For Cooper D are just the ones for Cooper S. With some time, I'll post some references.

Cheers!

Got the JCW black grill with my quad light driving kit. Fits like a charm and the quad light bar meshes together perfectly. Once I get my rally stripes up, I'll post pics.

I got one JCW grille too and I'm facing that problem "First only two of the four tabbed pins for the grille fit directly where the existing pins were." as well...
Does it mean that the one I got is for MCS??

First only two of the four tabbed pins for the grille fit directly where the existing pins were. Second the grille seems to sit too far back into the opening not aligning with the top trim piece. Third if I were to reuse the existing bottom chrome molding piece it does not sit right on the grille and you can see part of the exposed non-chrome plastic piece. Do you think they shipped the wrong one but had it correct on the invoice? Any one else have this problem? Another thing is that the hexagon pattern does not match the other hexagon pattern just below the bumper. Did anyone else notice that?

I can't say with 100% you received the wrong grille but it sure sounds like it. Call the place where you bought it from and they should arrange for the shipper to come directly to your house to pick it up and have it returned. If the tabs do not line up then it is not the correct one. I think by default they send an 'S' grille, I even told them when I ordered it was not an 'S'.
