Does anyone know of a reputable/affordable place to get springs done anywhere near Minneapolis/St.Paul? (not Motorwerks MINI )

Or for my own research locally, any ideas on what a decent price would be?

Easy,

J

Like I was telling another guy, talk to some local reputable tuner shops. Springs on this car are relatively straight forward and i'm sure one of them would be more than happy to install them for you!

so from what it sounds like to me, the 2 best springs for the non s are h-sport and tsw.

whats the difference between the two?

One is a progressive set and the other is linear.

Here is a link to a better explanation than I could give.......lol

The benefits to both depend on your wants and driving style. If you are looking for comfort and a decent drop, the progressives are probably the way to go. On the other hand if you want better handling and a very predictable ride then the linear springs would be the best choice.

I myself wasn't so concerned about the ride quality as I was about a consistent predictable ride, so I went with the TSW's.

You should also seriously consider getting new struts with the springs. The OEM struts will have a shorter life with lowering springs.

not to say the H-sports aren't good for handling, before the tsw ones came out, they were commonly considered one of the best if not the best handling set of springs available

i was talking to one of my friends about changing lowering my mini (hes not a mini owner btw) and he told me that when I lower my car i should change/fix my crates (it was something like that, I'm not really sure what that is either or what it does, but if any one else here does or has any comment on that I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks)

What do you mean by crates? You should get an alignment done and possibly get new rear control arms if you lower the car past one inch below stock setting. Just my .02

I don't think we did. Whatever it is, I've never heard of it. Was gonna say though, I just bought a new set of tires and will post some pics of what they look like with the springs and such. The size is 195/55/15, which should look pretty nice. I am questioning how well it will fill the gap though...
