gas pedal / shift **** questions

i wanna get one of those old skool foot shaped gas pedals... was wondering how install is due to the pedal coming out of the floor? i found one that was 9x4 but that seems a little close to the brake pedal... found one that is 7in long... waiting on rest of dimensions...

also, i wanna change my shift ****, but i have a automatic... is it possible/dangerous to change because of the button?

Remember that the throttle pedal is drive by wire, electronic, not cable or linkage, so this may also be an issue.
