Dose of reality

Today NBC ran the special "Autism the hidden epidemic" and it really hit home for me. I deal with the fact that my son Ryan is autistic everyday and the challenges we families with siblings with autism deal with day in and day out. As a parent you want to do all you can for your child and it's hard knowing that more research is needed, more funding for studies, more understanding of this hidden epidemic.
We have hope for a cure and a dream of ending a epidemic that is sweeping the children of our nation.
I am proud to be a member of c3, Cooper Club for Charities, as they have taken on my passion and my dream for my son and countless children in the world who have autism.
All week NBC will be running segments on autism, to learn more go to www.autism.msnbc.com
I look forward to meeting everyone at the AMVIV 2005 kick-off dinner.

James,

This was an excellent presentation. I believe that it may be repeated tomorrow night. For everyone interested in viewing this important show, please check your local television listings. This show was very moving and it is interesting that they subtitled it The Silent Epidemic.

I wear my blue Cure Autism Now bracelet (like the yellow Live Strong one for Lance and the pink one for Breast Cancer), and people ask about it all the time. I mention the stats and then refer to autism as the silent epidemic!

Hopefully, with programs like NBC's, it won't be as silent and people can educate themselves on the options for their friends and family members who are autistic.

I would love to think that we could help James' son Ryan recover and lead a fulfilling and independent life. And that his daughter, Chelsea, could have a sibling to relate to and hang out with.

Sorry for this mis-information. Turned out it was showing either Saturday or Sunday depending on the market. Those in San Diego had a chance to catch it at 11am on Sunday. I'm Tivo'ing all the shows this week. For instance on the Today Show the Autism program was scheduled to run anywhere between 7AM to 10AM. It ended up airing in 2 segments around 8AM and 9AM.

I also sent a request to Multivision to try to secure a copy of the weekends broadcast. I hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. That last time I bought a program from them for a 2 minute news airing it cost me $150.

This is definitely worth watching. It never occured to me until recently that I have a relative with an autistic son. They've always been very private about their son. The prospects of a cure seem promising, but more research is needed to pinpoint the actual cause.

If anyone else is interested in the programming go here:

AMVIVII Kick Off Dinner Trivia Question!!

Why does Octane Guy call himself OctaneGuy??

Answer:
Octane is a brand of energy gels applied to the skin. A product that Richard developed along with his family company. When retailers see him, they may not remember his name, but they know him as the Octane Guy!!!

AMVIVII Kick Off Dinner Trivia Question!!

Lots of trivia stuff here about the c3 President!!

Did you know that the website application (FindaMotoringBuddy.com) aka the National Motoring Registry that links over 600 MINI & Mini owners across the USA was developed by the very same Richard Lin that developed Octane who is the president and founder of c3?

There are currently over 20 DIY Technical articles at his personal website littleMINI.us

He is also the developer of VacuCam.com, the first affordable multicamera video capture system developed for the MINI.

He cleans his white (5 Star) wheels atleast twice a day--even 1-1/2 years later, and is obsessive about keeping a clean finish.

While he keeps his MINI spotless, his office is usually a mess and disorganized.

In his teens he wanted to work in the special effects industry for movies. Teachers frowned when he used to write stories about what he wanted to do when he grew up and said he wanted to be a make up artist! In his mind that was someone that did creature prosthetics and gore and blood, in their mind, he wanted to apply lipstick and foundation on people!

In his pre college days he longed to be a musician, but later went to architecture school and practiced with many international heros like Eric Owen Moss and Steven Ehrlich.

Heading on out!!

I'm heading off to Vegas in 1 hour and 45 minutes! Man, packing a wife, a 10 month old, and the related bags between them doesn't leave much room for anything!

Still trying to cram everything, under seats, under baby seat, etc...

See you all at Ontario Mils at noon or in Vegas!

Richard
