Question about tires for my 1979 Austin Morris

I have imported a classic mini and I'd like to upgrade from the tiny 10 inch rims to 5x12 minilite rims and new tires (of course). Question is - Do I need spacers?? I was told I probably do. But before I purchase I thought I'd ask.

I guess you have drum brakes all around. You will need spacers if you do. You can get longer studs and the spacered drums like used on the rear of the later models that make the spacing correct with the front wheels because of the disc.
