I suggest you invest in several books on Minis: 1) Haynes Service & Repair (Mead), and 2) Haynes Mini Resoration Manual (Porter). From what I've read in these books, they should be Required Reading for any Mini or future Mini owner.
Congrats.

Read this on how to ID your Mini...http://www.minimania.com/matrix/

Door skins available there too. You'll need to pull the windshield & weld the panel, replace the rubber seal

congrats on the Mini!

20w50 oil should work just fine - it is the recommended oil as listed in the haynes manual

change it somewhat regularly and frequently as the oil lubricates not only the engine, but also the transmission

as for spark plugs, just pull one out and take it to your local auto parts store, they can cross-reference the part number on the plug to what they have in stock

bosch makes some mighty fine spark plugs

last friday i was driving my mini home from downtown, when i started the engine, the accelate cable broke , and the engine was runing over 6000rpm, i had my car towed to a mechanic shop, but the shop was closed on weekend. finally, i bought the cable and fixed it myself in front of the garage.
