Nice. I'm getting mine painted soon. It's going to be neon orange with a black roof and black bonnet stripes. No checkers at all. All non-metalic of course.
Mine is running happily, but the silly thing won't pass smog.

I do like it Norm, we are sure to turn heads when we are in the same place!!!
Here are some new things going on with the Beastie...
These are of course prior to the new valve cover.

The boot door cover and the shelf for the back of the rear seat.

The boot sans bumper with streamlined lights.
RHD cars have charm, but to drive them very much will get on your nerves after a while. I’ve had a couple of RHD Minis and I always recommend LHD, but to each their own.
This was British built German market car, not an Innocenti. As far as I can tell, they made some special cars for the German market (possibly other European countries as well). This model came in all black or silver and had the alloy wheels, which are Mini 20th anniversary wheels and the leather 3 spoke steering wheel. The grille is an aftermarket unit that was on it when I bought it.
The guy that imported it from Germany said it was a one owner car and it came with a bunch of receipts, including the original sales invoice, owners manual, etc. All in German, of course!

You're selling the V-Tec? After all the hassle, time and effort to get it? Nice ute btw. Looks like an assembled car though. Sliding windows on a Mini with Leyland badges?
Got it going like a champ now though.
Don't know much history with this PU or any PUs for that matter so it's going to be really hard to find out what is stock.
Why would it not have sliding windows if it was born in the UK?
Anyway I'm looking foward to bringing it to AMVIV next year.
Keeping in mind that I grew up in Aus where we only got rollup windows, I thought that sliding windows were done away with before BMC was converted into British Leyland. I may be mistaken on that though. I'm sure I will be corrected in the next hour if I'm wrong on that.
Looking forward to seeing it here. 8)

All UK made vans & pickups had sliding windows/external hinges right up to the end. I think all the round nose wagons as well, but not 100% sure on that. The late vans/PU were kind of hybrids. Externally (sliding windows, external hinges, fixed grilles) they were the same as the earlier cars but internally just like the MK III’s with rubber mounted subframes, rod change gearboxes, wide mount hood hinges, etc.
There you go. It was a UK thing. My Mini van had external hinges and roll-up windows with Leyland badges. Have to see if I can find an old picture to scan. As far as I know, Mini pickups weren't built in Aus at all, and there weren't very many at all brought in. I only remember seeing 1 in a magazine, and it specifically mentioned that it was imported.
Dude! How do you know all this stuff? You rock.
Is there a book you can recommend?
I'll look for those points when I get the truck. As far as I can tell from when I looked at it its all original with the exception of the steering being switched to LHD. I'll but it back to RHD drive though when I get it.
