... don't know which look you're after but if you want a bumper, the original was mounted on a sheetmetal 'flange' that you can fake in a number of ways - all of which would be hidden when the bumper was attached ... if you don't want the bumper, the holes can be filled with rubber plugs : the Canadien Mini 1000 (circa 1978) had a 'federalized' bumper mounted higher (across the mid-grill area) and the holes were blanked with plugs - so there is even a Factory Part Number for them!

I think some of the newer Minis have a tow hook in that spot. They would work out pretty good if you trailer your Mini very often. I guess without a bumper they might look a little out of place,but they would be useful.

Obvious:

machine guns.....no body work required

factory bike rack - put it on the front. {saw that on a new one for the first time - just the mounts in back....looks like rear facing machine guns, or the spouts for oil slick and smoke screen}

that's exactly where the pins are for my glass front. Put in a couple of fakes?

Given that you have the holes, it would be pretty easy to hang a bumper..if you wanted one. Not much welding required....couple of simple brackets. Doesn't Mini Mania have front bumpers on their specials flier this month? Or was that Mini Sport?

That would be a great place to mount some of those real small HID driving lights.

if you're interested, Mini Mania has the replacement piece for the front bumper mounting.
