Classic Mini Blows Its Own Doors Off Racing 1,000-HP Charger Hellcat - Mini Owners Club

 

"A person I met at a car show" was toying with a C8 Vette, Charger Hellcat and his F56 JCW. The Hellcat put about 4 car lengths on the JCW, the Vette had about 1.5 to 2 car lengths on the JCW. They did 3 pulls for good measure. The Vette owner must be in tears having had the Dodge smoke him.

 

If the Vette owner bought it for drag racing, he bought the wrong car. Hellcat on the drag strip all day long. However, get those two cars on a road course, and the Vette should walk away from the Hellcat, no contest.

 

I'm surprised at those results. I've heard with all the torque the Hellcat engine produces, they have difficulty putting the power to the ground. I would have expected the mid-engined C8 Corvette to have been the quickest.

The rounds with the Hellcat was close though for both parties.
Not sure if they could have outfitted an AWD system on the Mini to assist on traction, or if it could handle that hp. A lot of VTEC-swapped Mini's utilize a Honda AWD system when the hp gets to 300hp+, to help with traction and torque steer. Too much torque steer even above 200hp.
