1980 Classic for sale in SoFla
it is a used car and as such is worth what you can find someone willing to pay.
meaning if I try to sell my car and value it at 10,000 but at the end of the year have a best offer of 8,000 what's my car worth? IMO 8,000 ... IF I want to sell it & I can still get the guy to buy at that price. Or I can keep my $10,000 car . . .
I'd go to http://www.sunshineminis.org/forums/index.php?style=2
and http://www.minisofmiami.com/
and try to have someone knowledgeable go with to look at this car. heck, you may find someone who knows it . . .
the car is NOT perfect, even from the few pictures we can see rust and an interiour that appears to have a partial renewal, but missing some parts yet.
As a basic rule of thumb when folks ask me how much does one cost I tell 'em to expect to spend $7,000 minimum for something safe to drive as soon as they buy it - working brakes, few leaks, lights work etc. Anything else the car has going for it increases the price - like special model (Cooper), mods (done right), restoration (ditto) . . .
You can find others for sale on MiniMania.com and often on e-Bay to compare asking prices.
but in the end if you like the price and can afford a toy like this ... then go take a look. That's free.
p.s. don't forget that in all probability the purchase price is just the beginning. This IS a 30+ year old car no matter how "perfect" is claimed. A Mini restored to showroom new condition could cost $20,000 or more. This car will most likely not be anywhere near as reliable as your MINI and you can't just run to the dealer to get things fixed. You DO have some good resources down Miami way tho, and the websites I gave you will help you find them. But unless you are ready for a regular expense of parts and can either turn a wrench yourself or afford to pay mechanics you might want to give this some more thought . . .
p.s.s lived right next to Metro Zoo for hurricane Andrew and later moved to just off Old Cutler near the Deering Estate. Wife's office was in the Gables

Great advice, thank you! I grew up on 128th street and old cutler. Now I live in the Gables.
