67 Mini Cooper S with no reverse?

Recently I discovered I lost reverse gear somehow. No noises or bumps, reverse just won't engage. I get the click when I cross the line with the shifter, just no movement. I removed and cleaned the remote so I know that's not the problem.... Anyone?

How about engaging it when the engine's not running, then start it and see if reverse works. That'll tell you whether the transmission's reverse even works. At least then you'll know whether it's engagement, gear, or something else.

Just a thought ...

Doesn't make a differance. When I release the clutch when it's running it sounds a little chattery. It's driving me crazy...

How about shutting off the engine, engaging reverse, then try to push the car to determine if it's engaged while the engine's not running. If it feels engaged (vs. in neutral) then try click the starter over (without depressing the clutch first) just to see if it moves.

My guess is that if the shifter is in reverse position with the engine off then you can still push the car. Just based on your symptoms.
