I'm new to minis and I'm looking at purchasing a classic. There is one available locally:

94K orginal miles, lots of rebuilt components, engine redone with all new gaskets, clutch, bearings, etc. It was purchased in Canada and inported/licensed with original title and vin. Paint is pushing 12 yrs old. Seller is asking 10K firm.

What questions should I ask? Is it worth it? Obviously the dash and trunk have been customized.

posting the pictures rather than attaching would allow us to see larger images but it looks clean. I'm not a fan of the ICE but if you are . . .

original engine? what engine mods? what brakes up front (looks like drums)? is the engine OK with unleaded fuel (needs the hardened valve seats)?

But in the end a used car like this is worth what YOU think it is worth and not a penny more. If you want it today give the $10,000. But the market is pretty darn soft right now and you can always come up in price. I'd offer $8000 (I don't even want the ICE) and see what happens.

Tell us where you are and maybe there's a local Mini owner who could come over and take a looksee.

run the checklist for the common rust spots. Look underneath. Can you look under the carpet?

Ya, I wouldnt pay more than $8k either and all that crap can come out the boot, I suppose if you live in the 'hood that thumping sound system would be cool

Look for rust on the a-panels, floor pans, around the windshield. Those are some of the areas that get rust first.
