I received the following e-mail and I'm wondering what you guys that know the classic Mini know about it?

Thanks,
Dave

In 1982 I purchased a 1960 Porsche 356 Coupe. On this car was a Paddy Hopkirk steering wheel. Because of not knowing anything about Paddy Hopkirk and no internet research capabilities in 1982 I promptly removed the wheel and replaced it with a Nardi. Recently I came across the Paddy Hopkirk wheel and my question is. Could this be a rare find? If it is I'm wondering if the wheel should not be in the hands of some crazed Mini driver, I know how nuts I am about anything
Porsche/German related from the sixties era. Please let me know your thoughts.

The names I hear mentioned for Classic Mini steering wheels are the Les Leston and the Moto Lita wheel. Personally never heard of the Paddy Hopkirk steering wheel, but did have P. H. seats in my Mini back in the early 80's and the most famous of all gas pedals is the Paddy Hopkirk pedal. So it would be logical that there would be a steering wheel bearing his name. I'm interested! Any pics?

Following his great carreer in rallys and racing, Paddy Hopkirk tried his hand at product endorsement; Every Mini owner who thought they could drive aggresively put a Paddy Hopkirk Throttle Pedal Extension in their car ... but the rest of the product line kinda faded into obscurity - there were better products for less money more readily available.
So a Steering Wheel in good condition is probably worth something just 'cause they didn't sell very many and it's now rare!
