OK electrical gurus, what's this thing?

Alrighty, after getting into the electrical I asked about last time, I tore out some....and now have problems. Well my turn signals no longer work. Headlights still work, but there is this thing in my engine bay that it broken that may be the problem? Anyone able to identify this?

Where it was installed.

What it looks like out of its shell

Wire colors

And the broken shell

And would anyone know where the flasher is?? I cant seem to find anything?

I think that would be your flasher. You can get any 2 pole one from any autoparts store to replace it.

this is the older mechanical style ...you should have no problem replacing it with a new solid state version from any parts store

Do your 4 way flashers still work? There is one flasher for the turn signals and another for the 4-ways

take it with you to the store and ask them for a replacement - you want the same number and arrangement of prongs ... replacement may be a black plastic cube ...

In the circle is a mount. The unit w/o a case appears to be a flasher relay. As strat said a 2-pole is available anywhere. I think the p/number is 554

Welp! Another success story is in wraps!! I went to the local auto parts store, and got a flasher relay and it cured it! It was funny, the parts store doesnt even have Austin as an option in the manufactor..........living in a town of 30k, this may be a tough car to get parts for

Yep, since the classic Minis were not sold in the states, it's difficult to find parts for them. The online classic Mini parts stores can still source a ton of parts for these old cars, but frequently I have found engine parts for an MGB of the same era to fit just fine (I had to replace the thermostat just last month, and I used one from an MGB from Checker Auto Parts).

Cheers,
Jeff
