That i know as well. Its a SPI, which means that it has been RE-VINed. I know that most of you hate that. What else can you see?

There is no thing as a rust free shell. I don't know where he got a 67 VIN from. A Mark IV shell would be from the late 80s and the engine is from the late 90s.

That price is very cheap for what he says it is and what he says he did to it.

It might be a brand new shell with older engine and other bits.
This might explain why it will come with an Alabama title, I believe they have pretty relaxed laws regarding "kit" cars and the like.

Also, my too good to be true sense is tingling based on all the work that he supposedly did and the price.

I'd ask for the restoration photo history they supposedly have. Should be revealing.

If you notice it has an Ontario plate. I don't know canada's laws regarding import/export, motor vehicle registration/titling but I would be vary weary as to actually coming through clean and clear with a title. It sounds like theres some kind of connection in Alabama with the dmv or something. But when you bring it home your home state may make you go through a vin verification process so make sure you got all of that straightened out before you give them any money.

Alabama is a wonderful state to wash vehicle titles ie. Salvage from Flood, Collision, Theft, etc.... Be careful. Remember if it sounds to good to be true...... Although the seller has over 600 positive feedbacks and a 100% rating so it may be legit. The location in right on the N.Y. Canada border. If you want the car have local PD run the vin w/ NCIC and have the seller transfer the alabama title to their name in NY and then sell you the car the proper way. Good Luck

It's a RHD... wonder if it's the FREE CLASSIC MINI?

Personally, I'd like to see the REAL "before" pics.

I may have overlooked it in the Ebay listing, but I don't think the ad states Alabama title, but rather Alabama registration. HUGE difference. You need both legit. title and registration.

True dat! Alabama is a state where they only do registrations. A haven for running questionable cars (no title, serial # issues, flood car, salvage, etc) Too many states & countries involved. The car gives me the *******.... Run away. Buy a car with a known history.

I also agree - there is no such thing as a rust free shell. The newer ones were actually rustier than the older ones. And it started at the factory.

BTW, I've seen this car advertised before (or its twin). Just can't place it.

Thanks for all the extra effort in your replies. I am not going to do any business with these folks after all.
