Cone compression tool
Cone compression tool
I have already removed the subframes from my '79 Mini and was able to remove all of the suspension components including the cones & trumpets, etc. I have new cones and just ordered a set of HiLo's today for the rebuild process. I was able to get everything apart relatively easily as the subframes were on the garage floor and I imagine the cones were compressed from the original size.
Is it reasonable to assume that I can reassemble the new cones, knuckles and HiLo's without purchasing the cone compression tool? Or was the disassemble process just a function of wear that I will not have when I reassemble?
Since everything going back together is upgraded and new (ka-ching!) I am trying to save on buying something that I may not need. I do not anticipate doing this again for quite some time!!
