hydrolastic question
hydrolastic question
Im working on a 71 mk3 with hydrolastic suspension. Where is the t handle valve located where you can blead off the system located. I found the valves at the rear where you fill the system. I was under the impression there was a valve towards the front of the car that you can release the air bubbles when filling it up. Any help would be appreciated.
There is no such valve that I know of. When one pumps up the suspension with the proper pump (not so easy to find someone who has one in the USA) one starts by hooking up one side of the tool and evacuate the system -- in other words you suck all the fluid and air out. Once it is evacuated, you then hook up the other side of the tool and repressurize the system by pumping in fluid and no air.
On a stock hydro settup the valves to pump up the car are on the rear subframe just in front of the rear valance. There is a right one for the right hand side-front and back, and a left one- for front and back. If pumped up with the correct pump, there should not be any air bubbles. There is no t handle to bleed the system. I've seen people install valve mechanisms that look like t handles to lock the hydro suspension from moving for and aft for competition.
