fan belt, you must remove and match up.
spark plugs ask for 73 MG Midget.
Other items must be ordered from your regular english car supplier.

Not impossible, but the real challenge is often trying to make sure what model/year your classic really is. Hope this help: http://www.minimania.com/matrix/

Cap, rotor, points, condenser, belts, plugs & oil fitlers are all available. Source using a 1275 MG Midget as a reference, then double check they match.
NGK BP6ES plugs.

Any issues or to remove all doubt call Don for OEM quality parts. In fact, before replacing your ign points spend $100 and get the Pertronix Ignitor replacement. Trouble & maintenance free. Best upgrade you can do.

Look up 1968 Austin America oil filter. They list both a spin on and a cartridge filter for that year automatic (must have been a change) BUt Can't be sure if they are correct until you see it. You know for sure with Minimania.

I didn't want to start a new thread as this one has some good info in it already. But does anyone know about getting a thermostat gasket for a 998 from a local parts store? Like a part number or car make/model to give.

given the low low cost of an item like this and the low cost of shipping why risk it and not buy from a Mini expert like Seven or MiniMania?

if I were really trying to save a buck in this situation I'd Just buy gasket material, pull the old one and trace it on the flat stock and cut it out. Cost a couple of bucks and was what I had to do when I changed out my mechanical fuel pump for which no one had a gasket. (been going solid for close to 6 years now)

Any part store has sheets of gasket material for a few cents

Not trying to save a buck just wondering if I can get it local. I've been getting parts from seven ent. so I'll stick with them. Fast shipping and had every part I needed. I have been thinking about going to a electric fuel pump, why did you stay mech.?

- the fuel pump ended up being the first thing I had to do to the car ... when I got home the pump was leaking like crazy. Only research I did was finding a direct replacement of what was there.

- that said, I've had no problems with it so why introduce another potential electrical gremlin if it isn't needed? I don't suffer any fuel starvation which to me would be a primary reason for going to electric ... increased vol' if needed.

- altho I might add that changing the mechanical pump was a chore with everything else in place. Not the easiet beast to access, the two bolts are somewhat buried under the exh' manifold. I ended up adding toys to the tool box just to get in there....but would have had similar problem if swapping to elect' as the old would still come off and would be replaced by a blanking plate. I used the opportunity to replace all the fuel lines, and did some rerouting as I was not thrilled with how close the existing stuff came to the manifold in places - you'd obviously end up doing some of this if changing to electric too. Bottom line is it was probably the same if not more work to hold onto the mechanical.

Very valid point on the electrical aspect. My Mini has odd problems, got the head lights working fully and now the instrument lights don't work. Once it warms up Im going to take the gauges out and check connections. i just found 2 wires that are cut, a black and a green w/ red wire. never ends, but its fun.
