Importing one of the last classic Minis
so the show-and-display thing you can only drive 2500 miles or something? what's the fun in that? i see and come across plenty of lhd and rhd classics already here that i don't really see the need to go thru all the red tape. sure it'd be awesome to get one of the special editions but what's the fun if you can't drive it? the jdm people figured out a lot of loopholes and cheats to bring in cool cars for japan and i see 'em w/ fair frequency on LA streets, especially in the really asian parts. mothballing isn't that fun; must drive
minicoopermike,
That's an interesting list that you provided the link to. Actually, I could see owning one of the last 50 and keeping the mileage down to 2500 p/year. It would be interesting to see what level, if any, cooperation there is or would be between the UK export side and US Customs. Definitely a transaction for the experienced. In your original post, I think you made a hypothetical purchase price of $10K USD-- I haven't checked prices on year 2000 Rovers, but somehow I think the last 50 produced might fetch considerably more than $10K.

Nice Equinox model (1996)! Love the purple color, which seems pretty rare on the classics.
