I'm going black with a dark gray stripe. The stripe carries over to the rear seat as well... Should match black carpet very well I think (also on-deck)...
how do the seat upulstry kits work.......do you just remove the old material and slide over the new and fasten.........i usually send my stuff to a local shop.......would love to just do it at home......
The MGB kits were likely Newton Commercial via Victoria British. I replaced all seat foams/squabs and slipped on new covers. Takes a little time & practice but well worth doing it yourself. Looked factory when finished. I'm sure you'd be a good candidate for DIY.
The red/black covers shown are slip-over type covers that could be sewn at home with a proper machine and a pattern. (you could make your own patterns out of kraft paper to transfer onto the vinyl) Those were popular style covers back in the 50s-60's to avoid actual re-upholstery, esp in pickup trucks.
Norm's a good guy and it's great to see that he includes you in all apsects. That sure helps the process when the owner knows exactly what is happening at all stages.
Is the top silver or pearl white, or is is just wet? Also, I assume the engine and seats are still in the car, since the painter has those areas masked off?
That mini looks great. Do you strip and paint the underside as well? Also, how do you handle the pieces of trim that slip over where the seams meet up?

Sorry, I wasn't clear before. Do you paint the seam covers with them still in place or do you paint them and the body separately. I assume they're typically done separately but I wasn't sure if some of the paint would rub/scratch off when they're re-installed.

you put a coat on the inside of the seam cover before you put it on the unpainted car.....then you put seam sealer around all the edges then paint the car........
XB: tha rims are white with a chrome center lug cover
These came on the wheels, but i have seen them on ebay. You can also try ebay in the UK. www.ebay.co.uk these were painted black when i got the car, but i stripped and polished them
