Update time BTW, this got bumped to page 3 fast

So I've been noticing a little strangeness when braking; a sort of diagonal push-pull when braking with a sideward load. Over the weekend the brakes got mushy and I had to double pump to get the pedal firm, so I figured a bleeding was due. Hey, it’s what we do in the South to fix things, make em bleed.

So I start bleeding the rear wheels and I get nothing from the driver’s side. I don’t mean a little I mean nothing. After troubleshooting I found the wheel cylinder to be frozen. It had to be frozen for awhile too, based on the amount of rust under the boots. Managed to find a replacement in town, by having the parts guy look under a mid 80’s MG Midget.

I’m thinking we need a Sticky were we can list a replacement part from current year model cars that will work with our newer Classic Minis. By current year model I mean cars that are in the Local Auto Parts Store’s data base. Where we can run and get it instead of waiting for shipping from the couple vendors we have for the Rover years.

I also got my new windshield today. I’m looking to get rid of the chrome filler strip in the window rubbers and since the current one is fogged on the edges, I figured I’d kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Unfortunately the glass arrived in 2 pieces, so I’m waiting for another replacement. Great vendor BTW – no questions and the glass is coming before the other has even been inspected.

Oh and I installed an air horn too……….. hmmmm maybe I need to change the title of this thread? Nah, I did say for now! Write up and pics later

i hear that the brake pads for minis with 8.4" discs are the same pads as on midgets.
haven't confirmed this via inspection though.

Great shoice with the silver, though a black grill may lessen the effect. IMO, I'd keep it silver.
