Bill Jacobs Support Thread

After taking 51 posts of mud-slinging in 5 days, I'm starting to feel for the guys down at Jacobs. As a matter of fact I mght start taking my car down there for service despite the fact that its so far out of my way. Partially for spite, and partially just to experience the 'worst' MINI dealer in the world. Sort of like drinking the skunkiest beer at a bar, just to say you've done it. Except I don't think that Jacobs is that beer.

I shopped Bill Jacobs and was treated very well!

I'm also a firm believer in allowing a business to make a problem right... And all for human contact! Sometimes email just isn't the right way to connect...

I don't believe that young lady's slagging Bill Jacobs was fair.

Cheers,
Mark Gibson

I've had my MINI there a couple of times for warranty service and was always treated well I don't know if they still do this, but I really appreciated the gas gift card they gave me each time I picked up my MINI!

I just returned from my 2nd Manual "driving lesson" with my Bill Jacobs MA, Dustin.- ironically, the same MA as Coopermaniac has)

This is my first car with a manual transmission, so Dustin has been kind enough to take me out and show me the ropes.

My experience was very different from Coopermaniacs. Prior to buying my MINI, I asked other MINI owners I knew about their experiences with Bill Jacobs MINI. (I considered Jacobs first because they are the closest dealer to my home). I heard nothing but great things about the dealership.

IMO, it's a pretty serious matter to trash someone's reputation, be it business or otherwise. And reporting them to the BBB (TWICE!!)because her floormats had water on them(on a rainy day, by the way) is pushing it!

Just wanted to lend my $.02 in support of Bill Jacobs MINI, and especially Dustin, for making my experience, and those of my other MINI friends such a good one.

My father had the "original" 1963 Mini and I almost bought my first BMW MINI 2003 at Bill Jacobs (I approach the MA who was Rachel who is very knowledgeable & kind ). For me the dealership was clean and well organized; but there is a policy back then that a buyer should purchase his car to the dealer closest to his residence. So I ended buying at Patrick MINI (who also treated me well esp. my MA Kevin McConnell).

Now it seems there is no more such policy, I placed an order for the 2007 MCS at Bill Jacob ( my MA is Christina is very professional).

Hope this helps.

Here's another thumbs up for Bill Jacobs and for Dustin. He was my MA and was very helpful (through 3 test drives and a lot of "maybe I should get it this way...) during the purchase process.

I've had my service done there and they have been very professional and helpful.

I'll boast for Dustin also, he was a great help with the car, the man is busy busy busy and although I ocassionally got the feeling that he was rushed when with me, I still knew he was there to take care of my purchase and wouldn't hang me out to dry after the sale.

Hopefully I'm right as I haven't had the car for that long, but so far he and the staff at Bill Jacobs have been great.

Dustin is the ONLY MA to work with, in my opinion.
However, the service dept. could use alot of improvement. During my last trip for service I asked that my intake air filter be changed. I realized that it hadn't been done after I got home. I made three phone calls(none answered or returned) and sent half a dozen e-mails without a reply. When MINIUSA called to ask about my service I told them I was not satisfied in the least as to the way I was ignored. Previously this year I ordered a part through a friend's auto body shop. Jacob's initially told him it would be there in two days, then gave him the run around for six weeks. Last year my friend with the auto body shop asked Jacobs for information on how to wire the rear hatch. They never did help him out. I ended up taking my car to his shop and we tore the back of my car apart to find out how do get his customers car wired. I think it's time they put service back into the sevice dept.
I guess this shouldn't be on the "support" thread.

p.s. One 4 minute call to Knauz answered my questions that Jacobs didn't have the time for.

Bought my used 04 there from Rachel a few days ago. Dustin was around, and tossed me the keys to his Mini to check out. Both MA's were easy to work with, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Rachel went out of her way to get a few things done for my Mini before I even signed the paperwork. Haven't had the opportunity to comment on their service department yet, however...

I personally felt the treatment I received at Bill Jacobs was excellent, they were very professional, and always willing to help....I know this won't change your opinion, but I honestly could care less where you get your car serviced. If you don't like them, don't spend your money there.

I brought my Mini to Bill Jacobs for service, they put over a 100 miles on it for a road test. Would love to find a Mini repair shop thats not a dealer

Did you ask them why it took 100 miles of testing?

Had them fix my seat tracks under warranty last month. They gave me a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0i droptop for a loaner (no complaints with that!!!). They didn't put on any miles on my MCS while they had it. With all of the other toys that they have at their disposal (M series BMW's for example), I'd question why they'd choose a Mini to rack up excess miles "joyriding" or whatever may have been inferred by minibaby3.

Sitting here in the lobby of Jacobs, just got my oil changed in record time, and drive a Z4 for Susan too. Thanks again to BJM for service.

my car is at bill jacobs right now, i was getting that constant clanking noise from my tranny when the clutch is not engaged, they suspect the flywheel, but i wont know until monday... i was hoping for a convertible loaner, but they only had a 2007 328i left =) this is my 2nd time there and so far so good, no problems and the service person who greets you is always really nice. i've never had this kind of customer service when it came to warranty/service work at a dealer.

i got my 04 cooper about 1 month ago from Bill Jacobs. i have been very pleased with their service there. Rachel was my salesperson and I loved her. she was so down to earth. very trustworthy, unlike a lot of used car salesmen. there was an issue with the vinyl graphics upon pickup of the car the first time and she had the used car manager come and assist me. the next day i brought it in and got a BMW X3 as a loner vehicle. i feel like they treat you with a fair ammount of respect there. even though Patrick MINI is much closer to me, they don't have as nice of a facility and I bought mine from Bill Jacobs so I continue to go back.

I just bought my new MCS at Bill jacobs on Wed evening. Unfortunately Google gave me terrible directions and I got lost in Kankakee on the way up. I didn't arrive until 8:30 and was worried that I'd have to drive up again!

Dustin is the sales rep that has handled all the various details and what not of my order.

Dustin and their finance guy stayed at the dealership with me until 10:15 without even a hint of complaint. They still did a great job introducing me to the mini and patiently answering my questions even though I was holding them for more than an hour past closing time.

Bill Jacobs definitely gets my endorsement, I've had a great experience with them and Dustin is really on top of everything.

I can only judge by my own experience, but for me, I couldn't have been happeir with how I was treated by Bill Jacobs MINI. I picked up an '07 MCS Cabrio from Rachel this past June. She was helpful, professional, AND she also owns a MINI Cabrio! Rachel arranged to have my MINI delivered to Bill Jacobs from Knauz MINI in Lake Bluff (my sincere thanks to them, also). The price was fair, and Rachel threw in some nice goodies too! No hassles, no smack talk, no disrespect -- just an honest deal on a car I love. I've since had aftermarket additions done there, and the service department was top notch.

Just an update - I called today to confirm my pick up arrangement for Saturday.. (Pepe is finally here) and asked to speak to my MA - got Dustin - who advised that Christina 'was no longer working here' very odd as I spoke to her on Monday and she didnt mention a thing...

Of course not that she had to let me know and my experience has been nothing but great with her and Bill Jakobs but its like when your hairdresser/doctor/insert appropriate non personal relationship tells you they are leaving... me sad I never got a chance to thank her properly for all her help!!!
