I'm thinking about organizing a trip for CMMC up to the American LeMans series race in Elkhart Lake, WI on August 19 at the Road America track.

Think Porche GT3s and RSs, Aston Martin DB9s, Lolas, Corvette C6Rs, Panoz Esperantes, Saleen S7s, and Audi's new R10 all duking it out on a great road track.

I'm working with the track to see what the options/cost might be for a group, but wanted to guage interest at this point before I get too involved. I'm looking at Saturday gate admission/paddock access, reserved infield parking and even some touring laps prior to the start of the race for those that might be interested.

So just post and let me know if this sounds like something you might want to participate in, or not.

The Road America jaunt may work for me. I won't know for sure until sometime in June.

Your post makes me think about the North American Mini Cooper Championship Race Series. It includes two days of racing at Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis. The dates are June 10 & 11. The Phil Wicks MINI Driving Academy offers instruction on both dates.

I intend to drive to Gateway the morning of the 10th (Saturday) to watch the weekend's races. I've enrolled for academy instruction on the 11th.

Perhaps some club members who would like to convoy down there.

 

I am all about the convoy idea to road america. I was planning on going anyway. And that MINI Race sounds good too.

Ya - I'm interested! It's been a long time since I've been to RA. I'd love to make a trip back up there, the last time was before Zanardi left for F1.

 

I was thinking about going to the races myself. I'd be glad to travel there as a group.

 

the race at mid ohio is one of my favorite summer activities. been 5 years running now! (wasnt lemans when i started tho, was trans-am and can-am)

 

I like to join the group as well. It's been a while since I was at RA. It would be so cool to run my Cooper S around the track.

I am so totally up for this. I love RA, but I've never made it to an ALMS race. Have there been any more plans or developments?

 

According to the Road America site the car corral for BMW and Mini-Cooper (their spelling) is in turn 14.

 

However.......the IMSA web site only lists the BMW corral at 14.

 

I'm signed up for the "track tour" on Sunday morning. Be there or be square!

Yesterday I noticed that Speed GT is running, too. It's gonna be a great day of racing.
