Autocross: R53 Cooper S vs. C6 Corvette ZR-1

The Corvette guy got to within a second of FTD (fastest time of day) his first or second time out. It was shockingly fast, even on a tight circuit, which Windy City Miata Club is famous for.
Didn't do too bad in my class, though. The two guys who finished ahead of me were on race rubber, and I had to make do with stock size, Max Perf. Hankook V12 Evos.
I was definitely ruing the day I put my sensible shoes on (pun not intended) and ordered Max Performance tires over my usual Extreme Performance selection.
Still, I had a great time. Can't wait 'til next season ... Picked up a set of GramLights 57S wheels. Now to save for tires.
... Snow tires.

My girlfriend tagged along to get some practice with her DSLR and uploaded some pictures onto WCMC's site. Lots of interesting machinery to be seen dodging cones:

Dave and his R56 Cooper S wasn't there, neither was Dustin and his R50. Both are usually regulars ... The guy with the red R53 has been to a few events, but I never got the chance to introduce myself to him.
