If you're going to keep your car for at least four or five years then snow tires are essentially free. You buy them for much cheaper than your runflats, and wintertime wear goes on the cheap tires instead of the runflats. MUCH better tracktion, fun in the winter, less wear on the summer tires. Win, win.

i'm so stoked i got winters this year...the car barrels through all kinds of slop, ice, snow. last wednesday when it snowed a lot during the day i drove 30 miles and was passing trucks getting squirrelly and felt proud. so proud of The Chap.

i even launched the huge snow drift to get into my driveway just fine...and then got stuck 1/2 into the garage and had to shovel myself out. go figure! second time this has happened...i dont get it.

Sorry to hear about the accident . Properly set up Mini's in the snow can be fun in moderation. All that weight over the drive wheels can't be a bad thing

DrkSilver I have found that having a car totalled out because of a snow related accident can be a good thing. The Jetta mentioned earlier got replaced (eventually) by a Mini from Mauberley's neck of the woods (It was sitting at Volvo Waukesha when I rescued it)-its the one on the right in my sig.
Keep looking. If you want a carfax run pm me I paid for 1 month unlimited.

Oh there is a nice one at Grossinger in Lincolnwood (DS too)
A Second DS is up in Milwaukee. I was going to go look at it but decided on the black one in Waukesha. Both have clean carfax records.

Do it.... R56!!!

I did very well in the snow this week - had to go valentines day shopping on tuesday and mother nature thought she would try to throw me a curve... Zoe said not to worry and we had no problems being out and about...

It is kinda fun to pass AWD/4x4 in the MINI in the snow....

Well, i pulled the trigger on the R56. Its gonna look exactly like my old one, down to the rims. But this one probably wont see the winter at all. And if it does, its gonna ride on snow tires for sure.

Heres what its got:

Premium Package
Sport Package
Cold Weather Package
Anthracite Headliner
Piano Black Interior
Rear Fogs
White Turn Signals
Limited Slip Differential (HUGE for autocrossing )
And leatherette, a downgrade from my leather in the old car, but what are you gonna do, i had to make sacrafices somewhere, and its surprisingly nice.

Its at the dealer waiting for me, but im waiting for the title to get to the insurance company so i can actually get the check from them. So im keeping my fingers crossed that that will happen within the next week and a half. I would love to have it by the spring drive, but its not 100% possible yet.

Thanks to everyone who looked up used cars for me, and who offered other support You are all welcome to ride with me when i take delivery. And if you come to any autocrosses that im at anyone is more than welcome to ride along as well.
