Don't just go Lapping, let's go RACING! IL, IN, WI, MI, OH

Back in April I met Kern Fischer the Founder of SATCAR and look forward to Racing with him this Fall. YOU CAN TOO! For only $200 an event you will have 2 plus hours of track time finishing with a Safe Race.

If you'd like to take your Lapping or HPDE investment and see how you might do under the pressures of competition then check out http://www.satcarracing.com/events09.html

GINGERMAN FORMULA STREET SERIES - RACE 2 SAT, SEPTEMBER 12

GINGERMAN FORMULA STREET SERIES - RACE 3 SAT, OCTOBER 10

What is SATCAR Racing? From the AutoWeek issue.

"Credit SATCAR founder Kern Fischer for the level playing field. "In club racing, he who brings more money generally wins, and I wanted to get past that, where any driver in any car could win if they drove well," Fischer says. "The question was how to take the sprint-race format and make it a fair and safe competition."

A performance parity time (PPT) provides equality. The PPT is a handicap assigned to every car except the slowest qualifier before the race starts. Taking the difference between each driver's qualifying time and the slowest qualifying car and multiplying it by the number of race laps determines the PPT. That is the amount of time each car must sit in the pits after the race begins; slower cars hit the track first and gain a lead, thereby balancing performance in a real-time kind of way. In theory, if every car ran its qualifying pace in the race, all would finish at the same time.

Sandbagging in qualifying would yield an unfair race advantage, so a "breakout" rule levies a stop-and-go penalty when a driver beats his or her qualifying time by a predetermined margin. Road America's breakout limit was four seconds. With no in-car timers or radios, drivers are pretty much forced to stay honest"

WOW.....looks like fun. But I can see the carnage from the guys in back trying to get past the slower cars.

Have fun.....

^^^ They ran many races last year without a single issue. The Passing rules are stiff. From http://www.satcarracing.com/RULESOFCOMPETITION.pdf see page 24 for Passing Rules.

I think passing a Mini Van on the way to the event will be less safe then passing or getting passed on the track.

But the potential is there. Rules don't matter after your car gets wadded up.
