MINI Mech in NE Ohio???

Does anyone know of a shop or individual that works on MINIs in NE Ohio? I would like to get my pulley removed since I have had nothing but problems since having it installed (mainly SES light, code says mis-fire). I am frustrated with it to the point of being willing to drive to Detroit to see Chad and have hime take it off. I hate to take it to Classic because I think they will charge an arm and a leg.

Thanks in advance.

Not aware of a good MINI shop in NE Ohio. We have installed several in the club with no issues. What pulley are you using?

It is the 15% SC reduction pulley on a 2006. Maybe it is something else. I guess a trip to Detroit is in order. The gas will probably be cheaper than taking it to Classic.

John Negus at Larchmere Imports. He works on my BMW & MINI (and I just got a flyer saying he was now basically working on everything European). Not the cheapest place in town, but he is fair, honest, and been in business a long time. 12311 Larchmere Blvd., Cleveland. 216-229-8000. bimmerone.com

I'm not sure it's practical to try to reinstall the factory pulley. It is pressed onto the supercharger shaft and may be hard to align. The aftermarket pulleys clamp on and have stops to get them aligned correctly.

Did you change spark plugs when you did the pulley upgrade? It's generally advised to go one range colder with a pulley. I have the NGK BKR7EQUP (same plugs used on the R53 JCW) in my '03 with a 17% pulley. I have the 4-prong Brisk Racing plugs in the '06, but I don't remember their part number off-hand.

Thanks Claancy. I will give that a shot before a take it in since that will cost less than rolling it through the door.

For reference, I picked up the NGK plugs rather inexpensively from Amazon:

That is where I found them as well. Thanks again. I hope this takes care of it as I do like the 15% pulley but I would rather have the SES glowing.

claancy... just wanted to send a big THANK YOU for the advice. Got new plugs and wires and the car has never run better. It brubbles a lot less than before and no SES light!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I'll check these guys out. I'm not confident in the work my personal mechanic has been doing. His rates are really low since I get a friend discount, but I guess you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay for confidence with people who know MINIs.

However, if anyone can recommend any other mechanics, that'd be cool. I'm basically going for the best bang/buck ratio. 20-30% cheaper than Classic MINI isn't saying much, lol. But I guess that's the price of owning a MINI.
