Rear Side Bumper Light Replacement

Has any one around Cleveland replaced their rear side bumper light on the trim? Some a-hole hit and broke mine. Classic Mini wanted $50 to install the $12 part, I don't think so.... I searched NAM and can only find entire rear bumper replacement threads. Removed a screw on wheel well & under tail light section of bumper but the thing seems to have more then those holding it in place. Any other tips? I did not remove tire...should I?

Do you have the Single back up light in the middle ??? Those are spring loaded clips ... Lightly pry them with a screwdriver and they should pop loose

it is not the rear light that got smashed. it is the red light fixture built into the black trim bumper, red reflector, it is an entire light fixture replacement. I need to get the black plastic bumper trim off to plug in the new piece. Sorry if I wasn't more clear in my post. Should have been an easy fix not worth $50, I could fill my mini with gas for more then a month for that $$$

ok, I know who can help you.... BUT, you'll have to go to MININEO (He is probably on NAM, but I don't know) and ask Mark (ToBFree).

He has removed the entire under wheel plastics before (including the wheel arch covers). I think he'll be able to help you. I know this because there are some little plastic clips that I picked up for him last summer while he had everything in pieces.

I did it once on my '02 Cooper, it just takes some finagling and careful prying. Took about 5 minutes. Get some needlenose and a flathead screwdriver.

Yeah it takes 5 seconds and a Philips head screwdriver and a 10mm wrench.

Yeah, I let the hosting package expire. The domain is unlocked, I deleted the forums.

Most are correct. I'd remove the wheel to make access easier, but you can remove a few of the plastic rivets holding the wheel well to the rear bumper trim then carefully flex the wheel well away from the subject area. The side lamp assembly has two metal nuts that thread onto plastic studs sticking out of the assembly. Once you remove those two nuts, the assembly will pop straight out. Have fun with the wiring as those BMW wire connectors are delicate. Classic was nice enough to have a technician assemble the wiring to the lamp assembly when I bought them so it became a simplier cut and splice. I replaced both rear side lamp assemblies on my '02 because the assemblies were separating and letting water in which always smoked the bulbs.

Best of luck. Take your time and it will be easy.

And a Happy New Year to all and those from MININEO! I'm in Orlando on vacation until next week enjoying the warmth. Met a couple other MINI owners down here too. Seems to be a lot more of them on the road here as well as a few on various car lots.

Thanks for the advice. It snowed last night so I'm putting off until maybe tomorrow. I will be moving somewhere warm around 2011.

BTW - when I was in FL in August a bunch of Sunshine Minis met me for pizza. They are really cool.

When I was down there last fall, they were having their shindig at Disney. I ran into a few of them at one of the parks.

Yep, I would help.

I'll be back in OH Tuesday. I'm not liking the weather report though. I was outside in shorts today. I did meet up a couple times with one fellow with a newer R56. I'm not sure of his NAM username. Nice MINI though. They seem to be everywhere down here, unlike up in OH.
