power steering problem

I was just wondering if any one knows a good shop that may diagnose a steering problem? The pump went bad ,but the steering is heavy and uneven with a different pump. it feels normal above 30 mph. 02 Red w Black MIMINI.

I'd start with Stein Automotive. Local and trained to work on MINIs.

Autobahn BMW Repair. Hugh Ave & Poplar LVL Rd Louisville. 502-456-0472.

Don't know much about them but they service Mini's. My personal preference is to stay away from Stein's is because they tend to charge out of the a$$ even with the mini club discount. I was quoted a service that cost three times more that I got from Way in Indy. Go figure.

Also, there is Evolution Autosport: http://www.evoautosport.com This guy I highly recommend. He is usually swamped but this is the guy I would take my mini to if it needs service.

I had Autobahn BMW Replace the rack. The notchy feel went away. The car feels safe now. The steering is still harder than it should be ,but ,I guess that is a factor of the used pump. Autobahn seems like good people and quite a lot more reasonable than most foreign mechanics. They charged $75/hour and gave me 10% off the rack.($1166 total with an alignment) I think they are worth looking into for repairs.

Glad you got it fixed. I also charge $75 an hour if you ever need to come up to Indy.
