Aussie Feedback For A Newbie
Hi fellow Aussie Ministers,
I ordered my Clubbie on Friday. I have been told to expect a March/April 09 delivery.
Just wondering about the ordering/delivery experiences of other Aussie Mini owners on NAM. How long did you actually wait before delivery? Also, is there an Aussie equivalent to the MiniUSA.com Lounge where you can log on and check production updates?
cheers,
Glen

Hi - I'm from Melbourne.
My MINI was quoted as a 3-4 month delivery and arrived at about 3.5 months, early this year. Probably depends when the boat comes in. They seem to have the built-to-order gig pretty well sorted.
I haven't come across many other Aussies on NAM, but it's by far the best MINI forum/site I've found. Lots of people, lots of ideas, etc etc. Also, I've bought a number of bits for the MINI over the Internet from the USA (when the exchange rate was better earlier this year!) and the forums here have been a good resource for tracking these down. If I can mention another site (can I do that, moderator??!) there's a little bit more local activity on the Australian forum on MINI2 at http://www.mini2.com/forum/australia/
I reckon your best bet, though, depending on where you live, is clubMINI - it's a BMW-supported club with a branch in each state and that's probably the best place to get to meet up with other MINI owners. The one here in Melbourne is great and I hear the one in Sydney is even bigger.

If you go to Daintree, definitely spend at least one night in the Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa and get the Wabul Wabul treatment! Incredible! THey are one of the top 25 spas in the world and of them, they are no. 13 on the list. I can see why.
Headed for Alice Springs and Uluru tomorrow morning. Then on to Sydney. Wish we had time to do the southern half but hey, this is a very big country you have here and so wonderful! Really enjoying our holiday.
