anyone out there thinking about going?

 

Yes, we are going. We have been twice and it is heaven for a MINI fanatic, which I am. It is a good idea to check on somewhere to stay as soon as possible. The place to try and stay is Fontana Village Resort. This is where everything is centered and all the drives start from there. They book up quickly, but then as the time gets closer, people start canceling and you can probably get a room. It is soooo much fun and you can have just about anything done to your car by one of the many vendors that will be there. Try to go. We could get a group together from AR to go.

 

I think I will go.. I'll check into getting a room reserved. I read a little bit on a thread here about it, people are already getting cabins/rooms. Sounds like they are all 2 & 3 bedrooms at Fontana, but I'll check on something smaller. I'll be going alone so I just need a room with a clean bed and a shower.

UPDATED: I called and all Fontana has available right now are Dogwood rooms, described as older rooms with older furnishings, no tv, no a/c and no phone. $109 per night.

I'm not positive that I can go yet, so I dont' want to pay a nonrefundable deposit. I'll wait until January then call and see if there is anything left, and get on a waiting list.
The worse that could happen is I'm sleeping in my MINI ;-).. or at the biker motel.
In the meantime, let's try to get some others interested?

I need to map out the route, and find a motel 1/2 way.. I'll probably leave that Tuesday night after work and go 4 or 5 hours.
