Toro's First Check UP

At 15,537 miles Toro went in for an oil change, diagnostics and a few other minor issues looked into. According to the OBC I still had 2600 miles to go before service was needed, but I didn't want to push it!

I kept getting a warning that I had an exterior light failure, but all my lights seemed to be working fine. The tech figured out that it was the light that shines over the license plate. It never worked evidently, because I never noticed it. They have to order a part, I think he said the entire piece back there that holds the lighting had to be replaced. Also, my armrest cover came loose and I couldn't get it back on.. neither could they so they've ordered a new one. AND the carpet in the wheel well was coming loose, they order a piece to replace it and I found out that the carpet is there to reduce road noise. I had wondered.. never seen carpet in a wheel well before. I had my tires rotated and balanced (69.99 plus tax) and will probably need new tires in another 10k miles or so (89.99 each plus labor ). They have the cutest little red mini for kids to ride in their gift shop, but at $85 for a molded piece of plastic, I passed.. I'll see if I can find it online.

The service took right at 2 hours and the time was easily passed by having a starbucks and looking around at Target for a little while.

Todd had a great attitude and was very helpful, but the experience wasn't perfect. Details were forgotten. As soon as i got in the car I realized the armrest wasn't fix so I had to go back in. He did get the tech right on it though, and within a few minutes said he'd have to order a new one. Also, it was raining when I left, and I realized they hadn't changed the wiper blades. I guess I shouldn't have assumed they would do that automatically. The upholstery is coming out on one of the back seats at the top, those seats are rarely used so I thought that was odd. I mentioned it going in, but they never said anything afterwards about checking it, and I forgot so that goes back on the 'list'.

I have to go back after the parts arrive to have the light issue fixed, new armrest installed, new carpet, wiper blades, have the seat looked at and I think I'm going to get a bumper protector (? or whatever its called) put on..$100 including labor. I have a few scratches back there and take a lot of overnight trips so I think it's a good idea to protect it from my luggage.

Afterwards I went to Tunica and proceeded to lose my *** at video poker, blackjack, slots and anything else I played!!! After a good night's sleep, I won most of it back in under 2 hours at the blackjack tables. So I think between the free room, drinks and meals I probably broke even there. I decided that next time I'm staying overnight in Memphis not Tunica though, no sense in losing money I could be spending on the car right?

Did any of you have this many problems. Most are minor issues, but still, this car is falling apart way too fast. Luckily it is under warranty and they aren't major issues.

I was like a kid in a candy store at the dealership, I swear if I could afford it I would have bought 5 new Minis! They are SO freakin' CUTE and even more so when there are several of them together! There was NFR right out front with chrome mirror caps (like I've ordered) and black bonnet stripes (like I want) so I know he will look great when I get that done. Every car I looked at was different and the one that I really loved was well.. over 36k of course, lol

You are right - the dealership is a fun place to visit. I haven't had too many problems with my car (knock on wood)...but roadshow has yet to fix this really annoying noise. Stella has had two visits about that noise and they hear it, just can't fix it. We will try again in about 7k miles. And I have the rear bumper cover thing and love it! It really protects well for $100 bucks. My 'list' of stuff to fix is getting too long - it is going to take the techs an entire day.

Hahahahahah . . ..

Wow, don't even get me started on my MCS falling apart way too fast. Some time when you have an hour to spare. Here's a taste - in just first two years of ownership Roadshow had to replace fuel pump, coolant tank, wiring harness, got to third windshield, gearshift **** and stick, plus many squeaks & rattles, technical bulletin fixes, etc.

I think part of the maturing "relationship" with my '03 MCS was continuing to love it despite obvious design, mechanical and build-quality issues.

Just a follow up/update:

When I received the paperwork in the mail, the back seat had been fixed, just wasn't mentioned when I left.
Todd said you have to ask about replacing the wipers because he isn't allowed to upsell a warranty. I took that for a good answer but later on thought, the wipers should be part of the service, not a warranty issue. Oh well, I'll ask next time !
I have to go back for: replacing the grab handle on the boot; install new armrest, new sound deadening carpet in the wheel well; wiper blades; new cub holder insert

I won't be getting the bumper protector, I ordered a clear one and will install it myself .

None of these issues are major, but it does suck that the cars aren't made a little more sturdy. I will continue to have every tiny little thing fixed or replaced !

I guess it is just like the mixed experiences you see with other cars. We've had our '06 for a year and a half and have had no issues whatsoever.

I had mine for one week when a cable in my cabrio broke. Very disappointing, but I've had no problems since then!!
