OK. This is about the only way I know how we can be together on the golf course or any other designated parking area. We will have to meet somewhere like out in West Little Rock or downtown in order to carvan so we are in line together at the gate. I do not know how much the golf course costs but I would plan on 10-20 dollars per car. I think it starts filling up around 9:00am. I am open to any suggestions. We need to finalize this pretty quickly though.

I am going to contact the stadium and ask some questions about groups. I am making this call on Thursday so if anyone wants to know specific information, please post on this thread. Here is waht I am asking:

How much does it cost?
Is there still places for cooking out?
Do they have suggestions about groups that would like to stay together?
What is the best way to enter for the parking area we desire?
I will also request tailgating rules so we can better prepare.

Okay, really fell down on half the job (finding out parking info, sorry), but offer to bring grill still open. rgp2, you got anything on parking?

Condiment list:
ketshup
mustard
mayo, miracle whip
pickles
lettuce
tomatoes
bbq
steak sauce
cheese
relish
burger seasoning - I have McCormicks steak seasoning and Red Robin seasoning.
burger/dog buns

oldbunratty, if you are bringing the grill, do you want someone to bring charcoal and starter fluid, let's not forget matches or some kind of fire starter. Last time I bought charcoal I bought a double pack so I have plenty.

OK. Here is the skinny. We can take a grill anywhere on the golf course. The cost is $20 per car to park. If we want to stay together, we must arrive at the Fair Pairk exit at the same time in a row. They will do everything to keep us together. There are no group specials.

The game is at 1:00 pm. I say we will need to meet in the downtown area sometime around 10:00 in order to get optimum parking selection.

I stoked. What is the next plan of action?

I am still bringing the burger and dogs. I just need a head count.

Thank you, but grill is propane powered, so no need for any of the above (amazingly, even the "sparker" works after 10 yrs on this cheapo model - must be living right b/c SO old it has one of those useless glass windows b4 some lawyer thought better of putting cheap glass windows on a gas grill). And, fortunately, it's small enough to fit into back of the MINI w/ seats folded.

Happy to volunteer to bring anything else needed food/grilling wise.

rgp2, we'll have two adults and (likely) two small children - happy to bring our own eats if more than you bargained for.

CHANGE OF PLANS

In an impromtu meeting to greet the newest member of the AMOK family(Jeff's little bundle of joy) held at Alley Oops this evening, we have decided the 20 dollar price tag and the logistic problems that befall a gathering like a Razorback game are too much. We are now going to enjoy the day that still combines the game, a drive, and a cookout. Here are the details.

On the day of the gamewe will meet at the Chenal Kroger between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. for departure at 11:00. We are going to take a leisurely drive to Popeyes house in Hot Springs and listen to the game on his deck. We will be grilling burgers, hotdogs and and having a great time. After the game, you can either head back to your homes or go on a drive around the lakes with Popeye leading.

Sorry if you were expecting to be close to the stadium. We just felt it would be a better expenditure of the 20 dollars by using it in gas instead of sitting still.

BUT... we are still planing to do the tailgating thing. We just need to do this at a smaller venue. The other colleges in our state deserve our support also. We will discuss the future plans at the "Mississippi State goes to Hot Springs Cookout"

More info coming on this thread and to your private e-mail addresses.

I like the idea of heading to Popeye's for the tailgate party. The best thing is the potty will be right there!!! And anyone who knows me knows I need a potty! Walking long distances to 'go' and 'going' in a porta potty is not comforting. Popeye has a great place with lots of space, fenced yard for the kids, big deck, lots of room. This will be much more enjoyable. (Kids coming, driving pace will be leisure.) We'll be heading down Kanis to 9 to 5 to 128 (awesomely fun road!) to 70 to 270.

I say we start making plans for UCAs homecoming game next year. They had a huge thing with that this year. The community really got involved, it was big...for Conway. We could actually go in and watch the game as well.

Is there a grill at Popeye's house (assuming so)? I'm out for toting mine that far (as its too large for interior of MINI - was going to strap grill to roof rack for 4-block drive to WM Stadium) and cannot get away to Hot Springs that day. Sounds like fun, though!

Popeye said he has the grill. Here is what we need to get. I am still bringing dogs and burgers. We need condiments, chips, sides, desserts. Everyone should bring their own drinks. Don't drink in excess and drive though.

Popeye said there is a butcher not far from his house and as soon as we know how many to expect, he and I will run down and get the protein.

Oh, and we might need to bring charcoal. Lets not use all of his.

Jump in line. This could be the best gathering this year.

Hey,

My grill is gas and I will check it to be sure I have enough gas for MANY burgers and more!! Please let me extend my invite to all of you, I do have a great place and love to share it. Plus the road I live on is AMAZING and I can give ya'll a tour of the Spa City which will hit the GREAT roads around here. I'm leaning toward a cruise of downtown and the mountains rather than around the lakes. Roads are more fun in town. Plus it won't take an hour and a half, like the lake drive. I figure we won't have that much time after the game. Everybody plan on joining us for a fun afternoon. This is a rain or shine deal, if it's raining we will just move inside, so come either way. Also, if it's nice, please bring your lawn chairs, so we will have some extra chairs outside. Heck, bring them either way, if we move inside and there are a bunch of guests, we will need them anyway.

Drive careful and have fun.

Come on out, not just for the Hogs, but for my birthday!!!!! Popeye's making his really good brownies.

I think Margie is going to make a cheese dip thing in the crock pot, so we will get chips for that and I got paper plates, plastic ware, and napkins today and I will make Birthday Brownies with homemade ice cream for dessert.

Ya'll come and have some fun with the Razorbacks on the radio and I may put the Egypt/ Greece pictures on the TV for something to look at, if anybody's interested.

Bring whatever you want, just let me know so we don't double bring. I have and extra mustard and ketshup that I'll bring and some McCormicks Steak Seasoning (I love this on burgers!). I plan on picking up items no one else brings while we're at Kroger. My intention is on being there at 1030 so I can get a few some things if needed. Anything you like on burgers that's not normal you may want to bring; i.e. avocado, bbq, steak sauce....

Just let me know what you plan on bringing.

I had a coupon for buns at krogers, so I got 16 hot dog and 16 hamburger. If we need more, we can get them on Sat. so skip buns unless a bunch of people show up Sat. morning. As I told Greg P., there is a butcher not far from my house, so you can either call me with a total person count and I will run down and get hamburger meat, or we can just get that when you get here, whichever you want to do. They don't have hot dogs, I don't think, so pick those up somewhere on the way.

I will have an ice chest to put pop and stuff in (don't forget to bring your own favorite beverage) and another one to use the ice out of for glasses of ice.

I guess that's it for now. I hope every one can make this, it will be fun. I have a tentative route for a drive worked out. It can be lengthened or shortened, depending on how long everybody wants to stay over here. I figure we ought to have a couple of hours of daylight after the game, so we can make a run around town and show off the Coopers, plus have a little drive time fun.

Later, Popeye's Human

I will get the hot dogs and hamburger meat at Kroger tomorrow morning. I should have a pretty good idea on how many we will need after seeing the folks who show up. I will add a buffer amount just in case. Do we also need to bring charcoal? What about cheese? Just thinking.

No Charcoal, my grill is gas and I had the tank filled yesterday. I'm glad you are getting the hamburger meat there, then I can make brownies in the morning.

See ya tomorrow, call me and give me an ETA if you have time. I'm figuring about 12 noon, if ya are going to be late or early, call me, so I know.

Thanks, Popeye's Human
