See, that's the problem. Its your personal opinion. I, personally, think it was too early. You say it was well attended so the time must have been fine. How many of those that did go but would have really preferred a later time but hauled themselves out of bed because there was no choice? Either get up early or get nothing. 1 hour would not have killed anything.

You guys are getting very defensive about the few negative comments that are popping up. Try not to. Remember, on boards like this it is very easy to post rave reviews but if you get defensive about negative opinions, people will not post them for fear of getting their head bit off, especially with something as popular as AMVIV. Let them post them and learn from them. That will make AMVIV III that much better.

What I'm posting may get me flamed, but if it helps a little, it was worth it.

I am not getting defensive at all. People are in this forum giving their opinions on the 8 AM start time and I gave mine.

I am open to any and all reviews: good, bad and ugly. I am not worried about a bruised ego. I may be an organizer of the event, but I am also an attendee. I have my own thoughts on what can be improved. I hope no one is reading 'tone' into my posts and therefore assume they are defensive. They are innocent comments in response to peoples concerns.

On that note, the Red Rock Run has been tentatively scheduled to start at 7 AM next year. Schedule your wake up calls.

I hated the palace station hotel room I was in, I was in the garden rooms as I didn't think there would be that much difference, WAS I wrong, stained dirty floor, bad smells curtains and bedspread filthy! Even my mother said we should ask to switch rooms and she never complains about anything. Honestly, it was really bad. On top of that they tried to charge me an extra charge of 5$ a day for something I didn't ask for or want.

I would go to the palace station next year, but only if I could get a tower room, honestly! The parking on top was perfect!! Easy to get to and everyone was there, so that was fantastic. The food at the hotel was good and I completely agree that the leaving point was non confusion! I loved that it was OFF the strip as VEGAS has become so huge and congested. Perfect placement!

The food at the CAN dinner was wonderful, and it was so nice to see everyone together and chat. One little problem is that none of us at the back could not hear any of the announcments, which made others not pay attention. I have never been on a big trip like this before, but at the dinner I suppose I thought charity events were kind of dressy, and I showed up in an evening outfit, wishing I had a pair of jeans. :( I'll know better next year.

So, with the exception of my horrid room, (which I wasn't in that much anyway) I had a fantastic time, and I would like to thank everyone for doing such a great job putting it on.

PS Where are all the photos of the event?????? JJ

My room was on 19th floor, and Bathroom looked like brand new.
Tab was clean, and tile, sink were all pretty much brand new.

I wanted to stay at Host Hotel from prev. experience with Mega Hotel on Strip, and I didn't want to miss any of actions

And Richard mentioned before, but pricing was just GREAT!
$89/night for Tower Room, Buffet was $7 for dinner and $9 for Branch, you can't beat that

I see there's definately a HUGE difference between reports from those who stayed in the tower versus those who stayed in the courtyard section.

Thanks AZMINI and JordanJanine for your comments on the food at the CAN dinner.

I heard that you came in an evening gown! You were the best looking there!!!! I guess we should have mentioned it before. It never occured to me, since I had planned all along to give out t-shirts to volunteers, I thought everyone else was going to dress the same! Nothing wrong with looking your best!!!

Maybe I can get a hold of a c3 Tux next year.

re: PA system
Yeah, part of the problem was that the restaurant wasn't expecting so many people (due to a miscommunication) and only gave us half the room and booked the other half. When I told them the numbers we were expecting, they quickly opened up the other half of the room but put on all kinds of restrictions on us---we couldn't use both TVs, sound must be off. Don't use the mic for very long, otherwise we will bother the other party, etc.. The PA system we originally were using belonged to Andrew and wasn't meant for such a large room, not to mention I had lost my voice outside directing traffic when the MINI Club that had volunteered to help with parking showed up late. When I realized the PA wasn't going to work, I decided to go from table to table to thank the guests for coming. That's when the restaurant said I could use their house PA, but they didn't want it too loud of course. Long story short, we'll be better prepared next year.

Photos and writeup of the dinner portion will be posted as soon as I receive more pix. I'm also working on a video that covers the runs I shot--Poker Rally, Strip Cruising, Dam Run.

$59/night courtyard was very good price for room. If you stay in downtown area, you may be able to find cheaper rooms, but you get what you pay for.
I didn't realized that $30/night more for Tower room made that much of difference.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH. Hmmmm, looks like I got a new project ahead of me. LOL.

I'm actually in the midst of modifying a Jeep Wrangler Umbrella Stroller that I just bought that's red and black and making it into a MINI stroller. Debadging it, going to rescreen all the logos. Maybe add a c3 logo on it and bonnet stripes.

Janine,

The PA System was problematic, but you have to give c3 credit for TRYING! Why it took the Hofbrauhaus so long to ADMIT to us that they actually DID have a PA System, I will never figure out! Many thanks to Donovan for taking over the Raffle emceeing, since Richard's voice was shot!

I thought you looked gorgeous, and I really appreciated that you were all dolled-up! The car-club world is VERY casual, and I sometimes feel over-dressed at certain events. It's just that I'm a "vintage" gal, I guess, and remember when people dressed up for things!

Maybe next year, just to cause another layer of planning, we could think about having a fancy-ish gala!? A dressy fundraiser thing, and do it right in the Palace Station, if we stay there again!

We Loved it...... !

We have stayed at every Hotel in Vegas, and the Palace was great. The Worst hotel we have encountered was the Sahara!!! OMG that place needs an implosion!

We stayed in Both the Tower (Thursday night they messed up and had to upgrade us to tower), and Garden... Tower was Very Nice, good View. The Garden was your standard hotel room. The Price was Teriffic, more for us to give to the Poker Machines!

C3 Dinner was great! (Maybe next year you could give the Best Paper Mini a Hat or T-shirt) I won and got a Raffel Ticket, but didn't win anything. I didn't win even at the Boot and Bonet Show....

Anyway Thanks again for all of the Hardwork and effort......

I agree with hafid and AZMini completely....we are not the only ones either...just cause they choose not to post do not think there are not more....I have stayed in nicer hotels for less...if I had known then we woulda done so...it has nothign to do with the efforts anyone put forward...we are all greatful to those who worked hard to bring this AMVIV together....

again...take if from Hafid...if anyone....he is in up to three different places a week...I mean come on people...what if everyone got on here and said the palace sucked THEN you will belive how bad it was...have you been to any other hotels....ever...

We left our do not disturb sign on the door...you think that stoped them from coming in??? Oh no...they came right on in...TWICE!!!!

FIRED!!!!

LOL....I still had fun with all the minis though

OH AND THE FOOD AT THE C3 Dinner...AAAAAA MAZING!!!

I agree with JJ tuls azmini haf etc. I think more can be done with a hotel the price was great the gardens were bad i would think that we would be able to get a good rate at a better hotel on the strip otherwise it was a blast Don. you guys did a great job for it being your first year. Its really funny how big this little thing got. I still remember talking to Dom. about a few of us going to vegas 2 years ago.

i very much appreciate the effort that goes into getting group-rates in vegas. that said, next time i'd rather pay more to stay somewhere else. thanks to the housecleaning staff who couldn't understand "stay out please", i know a certain palace station guest who would appreciate her toothbrush back! and i'm not even going to describe the size of the sewer roach i found in the bathroom.

maybe it was just us cheapies who stayed in the garden rooms though, because everyone who stayed in the tower seems to have far less complaints... ??

first of all,,, Thanks for the great time. I understand that putting togeather a event like this is not easy. My friend who was with me on this trip use to put on conventions for a living. but his budgets were in the 100s of thousands. On the budget for this, You ( the sin city club and all involved did a great job.) With that said, I sure the majority of the people that went were pleased with the accomodations. They were very adequate for this type of event, to please all levels of incomes for the attendees. Personally, I dont have a problem dropping $300.00 a night for a hotel, but I would also be spending a lot of time in my room relaxing on vacation, or long weekend with the family. I Stay in hotels atleast 10days a month on a company expence, and they are nice places...but Im not flipping the bill. So I would not even think of complaning about this location. Im sure for some of the folks that came, this was not a cheap place for them, so once again, thanks for making this a location that all could afford.

I spent saturday afternoon around the Ny Ny, MGM ect. Drove up the strip with no problem, plenty of free parking at the tropicana, then 2min back to freeway to Palace station.

Having been to last year and this year, location wise, this year was better. the closeness to the freeway was great. The least amount of traffic lights to encounter the better.

There,,, my 2 cents Thanks again, and Chears to you Vegas Club

7am start will make it quite painful for those who are staying at different hotels.

How many HP will the bonnet stripes add to that stroller?

My 2 cents

Well I guess I'll chime in here also, I have to agree with Hafid I had one of the Courtyard rooms and the Shower was awful, the room stunk, they only gave one small bar of soap and never replaced it, We never got more than two towels we had to go out by the pool and get an extra one everyday, but I guess you get what you pay for. I would like to see it change up for next year but if not I will just stay someplace else.

For those not pleased with the Palace Station; we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott (just down the freeway, perhaps 5 minutes). It was a nice hotel, off the strip (which I think is more restful), but still convenient to both the Palace Station and the strip. It was also cheaper than the Palace Station (we missed the group rate, because we decided to attend fairly late in the game). Despite not staying at the Palace Station, I didn't think we missed much.

I thought the Palace giving up the whole top floor of their parking garage was huge. Covered parking (and cover from rain for the Boot and Bonnet show) was also a giant plus. Even staying somewhere else, I think the choice of venue was excellent.
