Well, I'm not crazy about Vegas, either, but last year it was a blast with all the MINI folk! The locals were grinning and waving at all the MINIs as we zoomed around town. And we motored to some beautiful areas that I know you'll enjoy seeing.I'll PM you with my cell number. I'll wear something nutty or bling-ish so you can't miss me! Maybe my hot pink & black feather boa wrapped around my neck with my typical black artist's garb! HA HA HA!!!

There isn't anything "official" for the Thursday night, but if you want to meet up, and are looking for any type of food in particular style, give me a yell and I might be able to point you at somewhere good and good value.
dinner sounds good
Dinner on Thurs sounds good. Also does anyone else know about this calico ghost town that someone was talking about stopping at on the way?
I haven't been to Vegas in 20 yrs and wouldn't go for another 20 if it wasn't for all you MINI folk!!!!

When I've driven past, it looked like a movie set, but maybe I'm wrong?
Dinner plans...hmm....maybe Hardrock Cafe would be fun? Agro, can you recommend a fun dinner place not too far from the Palace Station? Who has the best pizza or burgers in a good atmosphere?

Near Palace?
Hmmmm....there is an In-N-Out a couple of blocks west on Sahara, awesome burgers. Pizza I'm still trying to find one I like, but I'm very picky when it comes to pizza and it's different in the US than it is at home.
In my opinion, the Hard Rock Cafe is overrated. It's the same food as every Planet Hollywood/Tommy Rockers/HRC/theme restaurant in the world, only with a better gift shop than most.
For a big group that want italian, Buca de Bepo on east Flamingo is not bad and good value. Everything is served "family style".
My fav mexican is a place called Viva Mercado on west Flamingo at Jones. Try the chicharonnes. My wife loves their beef burrito.
Pasta Palace inside Palace Station is not bad (from memory, it's been a while).
There is a fish place across the road from Palace called Landry's. It was ok but nothing spectacular the time I went to the Vegas location. I enjoyed it more in Orlando.
If you want a good (large) meal at a reasonable price, and fantastic deserts, you could try the ClaimJumper. It's about 10-15 minutes on the Interstate from Palace, but worth the drive if it's what you feel like.
One thing you don't have to worry about in Vegas is finding somewhere to eat. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of good restaurants in town.
Give me more hints on styles and I'll give you more suggestions.

food
A good place is the 5 @ diner http://www.5anddiner.com/static/home.html
A WIDE selection of food at a reasonable price. Good food. I drive 90 miles to the one in Temecula, CA for a burger. Great onion rings, salads, shakes, malts, and more.
Check out their site. And while you are on their site click on menu and you can see what all they offer. I know the menu is 6 pages so everyone should be able to find something they like. They can seat 100 people inside and if the weather is OK they have seating outside. I called to ask and they will set a area aside for us so if this is what a group wants we could get together and let them know how many.
Since we have time Agro should go over and try it out.
And they are at 6840 W. Sahara and the Palace Station is at 2411 W. Sahara.
What do you think?

We went to that 5 and Diner about 18 months ago and vowed never to go back. It may have been the service on the day, but we were totally underwhelmed.
On the other hand, Earl has obviously had great experiences with the chain, so if you want to try it, it's on the north side of the road and easy to spot being all neon and chrome on the outside.

Agro - not to change the theme of this thread but ... do you know where I can find a "self wash" car wash in Las Vegas. Last year my car was a mess by the time I got down there and even though I ran it through a gas station car wash it still looked real bad. I'll bring down my own goods - I just need someplace to rinse.
Thanks in advance -
