(SOLD) ENDYN Cylinder Head (for 2002-2006 MCS)--NEW--Never Installed.
Hi.
I have a new, never installed ENDYN R53 MCS Cylinder Head for sale.
http://www.theoldone.com/components/...ead_modifi.htm
This head has the full complement of modifications that ENDYN offers for this cylinder head including:
-Full port work - Intake & Exhaust
-New Valve Guides
-OS Intake Valves - 0.5mm OS, Nitride Coated
-OS Exhaust Valves - 1.5mm OS, Nitride Coated
-ENDYN Titanium Retainers
-ENDYN Valve Springs
-ENDYN Valve Spring Seats
I also had ENDYN install PILO Racing valve seals while they were replacing the springs, retainers, & seats.
http://www.piloracing.com/proddetail.php?prod=valveseal
All told, with purchasing a head core and having the head work done, I put $2500 into this head. I'm starting a new business, so I'm taking some drastic measures to free-up some cash.
I'm willing to let this go for $1600, shipped anywhere in the continental US.
What you see in the pics is what you get. (As you see in the pics, this is a new piece from ENDYN. The valves still have assembly lube on them.) I will also include the original invoice from ENDYN.
Please PM me if you have any questions or comments.

Endyn does good work....
go to his web-site and read up on his tech. I've got one on my car as well. Mine was a bit different configuration that this one, but it sure added a bunch of mid range torque. There are a couple other longer term mini owners who have Endyn heads (among other products, he does intakes, SC horn and SC mods) who are happy with the product.

Based on your specs vs. this one, is this one more "top-end friendly" or just an extension of the mid-range area?
Going on the size of the exhaust, I would speculate the more top-end.

Cams & 'mid-range vs. high/top -end' info
Hi All,
This head was reworked to work well with the Schrick's more street-able cam for the R53.
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html..._ID=4240152100
The stiffer springs (noted above) help to close those larger valves a bit faster and to compensate for the taller lobes on the Schrick.
The porting on this head is generous, but also well executed with ENDYN's typically beautiful blends. The ports have not been wholesale enlarged to the point where the car will bog at the low-end or anything like that. Some folks have mentioned the dramatic mid-range improvments with this head, but you can get all or some-of the best of both worlds -dependent upon what other mods are done to the car in combination with the head.
There are quite a few threads on NAM concerning which heads are geared toward 'mid-range increases ' and which are 'geared toward high-end torque increases'. So you should definitely check those out to become a more informed consumer. Pay attention to the other mods that NAM'ers have done to the car in combination with the head.
My plan was to combine an ENDYN head, Schrick cam, JCW injectors, and to have a tuning session with Jan done to create a combination with both mid-range and high-end improvements.
More ENDYN info:
ENDYN has been doing sport compact tuning since before the term 'sport compact' even existed. Take a look at their website and or give Larry at ENDYN a call or e-mail. I'm sure that he'd be more than happy to give you his personal advice on how he'd make this head really sing.

Thanks for the info. You answered quite well. Good to know about the up-rated springs and the ports not being huge, but I did notice the exh. valves being +1.5. Just curious about Doc's specs vs. this one.
I have read, and read, and read about heads here on NAM and other sites. ENDYN's head is one that I have put on my list since getting a MINI.

Dr. O's ENDYN Head
You can find out more about Dr. O's head in this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ighlight=Endyn
So as not turn this thread into a heads discussion forum, I'd drop Dr. Obnxs a PM or e-mail if you're curious as to all the considerations of why he went with 1.0mm OS valves instead of 1.5mm OS valves. (However, I'd be honored if Matt gave us his 'Cliffs Notes' on that valve decision and his long-term impressions of that choice.)

Basically...
I'd talked with Larry about how I use my car, mostly street driving, some canyon carving, and a few track days a year. I wasn't willing to give up midrange to get a bit more at the top, wanted a valve train that could go 7500 RPM with a slightly improved cam and this is what he suggested.
As far as how satisfied I am with my purchase, I'd have to say I'm plenty happy. I bought mine before all the current options were developed, so I've had a lot of driving time under my belt for sure. The mid range improvements were astounding, even though I'm not getting the top end that other heads are now. To tell the truth, I'm not sure how much of my limits are due to my crappy el-cheapo exhaust system, and how much is due to the valve sizing. I'm sure it's some of both.
If I found a big bag of money I might do something to increase the HP, but really, I'd probably spend it on my house instead (ok,, a really really big bag of money).
