Yeah, I have been in the same situation where a dry pair of skivvies would be very close to heaven. Awesome pics BTW, but seeing it for yourself will really blow you away as I am sure you can now testify. Do hope all of your family members were OK, but there is an awful lot of cleaning up to do and what do you do with all of it. If you burn it we will have another catastrophe with the air we breathe. Maybe we can do something to help with some personal needs. Steve do you know of anyone or place(address) where email orders could be shipped to if womeone wanted to do it that way. I Know of a church in Hattiesburg whihc is serving as a distirbution point, but we need something in Louisiana, Mississippi coast, and Alabama coast. Let me know if you come up with anything.

Love this idea!!!

One hint for buying upper skivvies for the ladies. (if you are shy about women's undergarments stop reading now lol)

It is impossible to buy bras for women without knowing their size. There are a million & one different bra sizes for women. I would suggest buying sport bras for the ladies. Many come in S, M, L, & XL sizes and will substitue for a regular bra nicely when in a pinch. I have seen em at Wal-Mart for 3/$10.

October 7th might be a good date to try to Drop our Drawers since neither Alabama or Auburn have a football game scheduled for that day

I'll have to miss October 7th if an event is planned, but y'all can forgive me since we are off to Classic MINI in Ohio to pick up the wife's new Cooper!

Congrats, Yucca. Post pics as soon as you get it.

You two going to swing back by the Dragon? A few of us plan to go around the 16th for a day trip. My 06 is scheduled to be in Charleston on the 5th so hopefully I'll get it in time to get some break in miles on the brakes and tires before then. I don't think I'll have time to get the engine broke in.

Helping others - "drop your drawers"

I and others have been beating around ideas for what we as MINI owners could do for those affected by Katrina and Rita, and thought we could collect new skivvies. You can wash and wear someone else's t-shirt and blue jeans, but not underwear. Therefore, what about collecting as much as we can and send them to churches in Mississippi, Louisiana, and S. Alabama. We could problably help some misplaced staying in the Bham area. The campaign would be known as "DROP YOUR DRAWERS". Tom Williams will probably use some of his parking space as a collection area, then we get the information to local radio and TV so the word would reach more that the MINI owners. Let your imagination go and think of the ways to get them undies. Go buy them boxers, boxer briefs, briefs, panties snuggies, hughies, whatever and be prepared to give them up. Buy enough for a family of four, packs of three. The date is yet to be determined but probably around October 15. Drop your drawers on the way to the game. Volunteers (not Tennesse Vols) will be needed to help in the collection effort, so clear your calendar for the biggest skivvy collection in Birmingham, for that matter, Alabama, the US, THE WORLD. What do you say, are you up to the challenge? Let me hear you say YEAH, what did you say? YEAH "Let's Roll"

October 15 sounds like a great day to do this.

I will be out of town the weekend before to pick up the wife's new Cooper and will be driving back and forth up and down an undisclosed twisty mountain road on the weekend following the 15th ( who's going to come along?)

Once you have a date for this, I will head out to Costco and load up on undies for the whole family!

I was just reminded that we are going to the puppet theater in Atlanta on the 15th. We'll be leaving town around 2:00 so a morning meet would be all I could make.

edit: posted by Yucca Patrol on my wife's account! oops!

I have given up, thrown in the towel, cried UNCLE

It is just a busy time of the year & we couldn't get enough people comitted to one date so we have given up on the fundraiser idea. Maybe another time.

I got some really nice responses from & met some really nice people from a few of the other car clubs & for future thinking...it might be nice if we tried to have a multi-car club get-together sometime (maybe next spring).

It never hurts to meet new folks & maybe we could carry some vettes & Miata's out & show em how to drive the twisties
