MINI service in Bham
Saturdays for the next month are not good for me, but that is not to say many you could not do it on a free one. Another thought would be to go during the week during a lunch break so you know the "Big Cheese" general manager would be there, and get his attention. Anyway whenever we do it, IT must be big and fully supported or IT won't mean a thing. Maybe that is a reason for another club organizational meeting. In their parking lot.
I'm like Magic MINI in that I have only a few miles left on the factory warranty, but if something comes up I want someone close to take it too. Why could not the parent company have a tech from Global or MoN come for 1 day a week for servicing MINIs as needed, if there is not one already trained at TW. To me there are many ways for the "company" to build good will towards the MINI owners of Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

Steve, it is on a dead end street with the Lexus dealer across the street. Basicly, all the dealers moved out of downtown to this area-"dealer mall". There is no room anywhere around there to park and be seen and have an impact, other than the sales lot, or pull up to the doors of the service area and bang on the doors demanding service. Maybe photos of that would get some attention if sent to MINIUSA. Post it in all of our journals for those of use who are registered on MINIUSA.com. The moderators would have to see it and pass it along. Picture this - 40 MINIs lined up in double-file lines at the service doors of the dealership. That would be a GREAT photo op. Might even get on the local news. I think we have MINI owners who work for the Bham news, if not we could send them the pic. Headline- "Buy the Car, BUT we won't serivce it." As I have stated before, we would have to turn out in MASS. Numbers of MINIs never before imagined to exist in Alabama. Let's Motor!
Somebody just say when & I am in for a mass meet at Tom Williams. I can do it on a weekend or at lunch-hour one weekday.
It would be great if we could have a huge group & get some kind of media coverage. Maybe we could all hold up "Fix Me Please" signs
.
I am flexible & can show up almost any day but if people would start throwing out some dates when they could come that would be a good start.

Which ever method that is finally agreed upon, we need to make sure it is not misinterpreted as the cars having problems. If it gets some type of coverage around the area. We don't want to hurt the resell value.
I don't know how many would attend since it has only been discussed here. I will have to get busy and send an email out to everyone. If we do it next month on a Saturday, what is a good date. For those interested we could also eat out and then possibly go to the drive-inn in Argo. If any come from Rocket City or Capitol City, they may want to return home after eating or after our assault on TW. Think about a date in June.
Count me and the wife in on it!
I called them yesterday just to check and see what kind of info I could get and someone told me that the building would probably be open in June of 2006. This really stinks!
I've got two cars that will need servicing soon and with their mileage being different I'll have to make two separate trips to Nashville.
Let's do this!

I can live with a June opening if it really happens but we were told March some time ago. Then March turned into postponed indefinitely.
Has anybody driven by to see if they have broken ground on the building yet? If not it won't be opening in June

It won't be until June, 2006. You still got to wait a year and who knows if it will happen then. It could just as easily happen now except they just don't want to push the issue with MINIUSA, and if you write the folks at MINIUSA, they will say there are no plans for additional service centers at this time. June 18, 2005 may be the date to descend on TW.
June 18, 2005 is the day that may impact your relationship with your MINI dealer for a while. This is the day we go to Tom Williams BMW on I-459 in Bham to let them know we want to have our MINIs serviced in Alabama and not in Tennessee or Georgia. Taking a day off to make either trip is inconvenient, and shipping my MINI off on a truck for service is unacceptable. Since TW, Global, and MINI of Nashville are all owned by the same parent company, why can't they accommodate us here in Bham and surrounding areas. Hope to see everyone there at 3:00 pm on 6/18/05.
Tom Williams
Count me in Harold.
About how long do you think we may be there, I have a baseball game to go to in Montogmery as soon as I can, but can definately be there at 3:00.

As much as I hate it, I'll be unable to join the group at TW, and it's only 12 or so miles from home. I'll be in TN for a family reunion (wife's side; I'd rather be at TW  ). Good luck. Hope the effort doesn't fall on deaf ears.
Its sort of funny, my summer job ended up being up at tom williams. I have to work saturday, but I get off at 4:00, I guess I could park the car or try to get off early.
I think a one of the places to park the cars is the parking lot area between BMW and Land Rover. Its where the employees park their cars, but only about 5-7 cars are parked their, and I would say the lot is big enough for about 30. Its also right next to the BMW service lot, you would think it was part of the lot itself.

What are you doing at Tom Williams? If you don't mind me asking. I have said that I could sell the Mini's if I worked at the dealer!

I think he must be a double-naught spy. Have you told them we are coming? Has there been any talk about servicing MINIs that we should know about, other than the plan for next year. Come on, spill the beans, otherwise I may have to turn on the light and get out the rubber hose. Kidding, be sure to introduce yourself on Sat.
