MINIFunDrives.com's Motoring through the Hills of Texas 2010
Meet & Greet - September 24th
Drive - September 25th
You are encouraged to entice your motoring craving by getting behind the wheel of your MINI and exploring some of the true "Hill Country" roads just west of San Antonio, Texas. This is the 2nd Annual “Motoring through the Hills of Texas” event. Last year we had nearly 50 MINIs take part in this exciting day of motoring!
The drive consists of nearly 200 miles of twisty, curvy, hilling, roads perfect our MINIs! There will be a professional photographer outfit stationed along a segment of the drive route that will give you an opportunity to purchase photos of your MINI and You in full Motoring action! You can learn more about TxMotoFoto at their website, www.TxMOTOFOTO.com
The drive on Saturday, September 25th will cover the “Three Twisted Sister’s of Texas” which consists of US-335, US-336, and US-337. These roads are notorious “motor bike” roads. We will have one group photo opportunity right after lunch on US-336. We will be having Bar-B-Que in Leakey, Texas at “The Hog Pen” at Hwy 83 and US-337.
The drive will depart from the La Quinta (Exit 539 off I-10 near Boerne, Texas) hotel parking lot at 8:30 AM sharp. The drive should end by 4 PM.
There will be informal gatherings for dinner for those that are staying in the area Saturday evening, otherwise, the 4 PM end time should give you plenty of time to reach your home destinations for most people living in Texas at a reasonable hour later in the evening.
There is an informal gathering Friday night for those that are arriving on Friday. We will meet at the Sonic Drive In located in Boerne.
SONIC Drive-In 121; WEST BANDERA BOERNE, TX 78009 Phone: (830) 249-1547
This Meet and Greet is from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.
With that said, Friday evening is unofficially the start of the event. For those that are driving in from other parts of Texas you may wish to arrive on Friday night and stay overnight.
There is a La Quinta hotel at Exit 539. There are no group rates at any of the hotels, basically you are on your own if you wish to get lodging. The La Quinta is the official choice of MINIFunDrives for Friday night, September 24th. Because there are no group rates, nor a set of rooms blocked, you should make your reservation sooner than later. Visit www.laquinta.com
There is an event t-shirts with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer awareness.
There may be limited shirts with limited sizes available at the event, those who pre-order before 9/16/10 will get their requested size(s)!
Take Aways:
* The route and event guide are posted on website.
* This is a free event, no registration needed! However, we would like to know if you are coming so we can anticipate the crowd.
* Free Registration is important for the restaurant planning.
* If you are heading over Friday night, make lodging arrangements ahead of time if possible. Again, the La Quinta at Exit 539 is the unofficial but official choice for MINIFunDrives.
Let’s make this a TEXAS size event, MINIs from the Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas areas, down to Corpus City, across to El Paso up to Amarillo and back down to Beaumont are encourage to make the track!
